Xandru Grech is a Maltese athlete, athletics coach, media personality and entrepreneur. Personal life ''(Alexsander)'' Xandru Grech was born on October 11, 1974, to parents Louis Grech and Maria Grech Ganado. Xandru attended St Edwards College, Malta and graduated from the University of Malta with a degree in Communications. He is a qualified Power Plate instructor and IAAF Level 4 Athletics Coach. He is also President of Malta Coaches Athletics Association. Athletics career He began his career in athletics at the very early age of 9 years to become one of Malta's most recognized middle distance runners registering National records in the 800m and 1500m at the Small Nations Games in 1995 held in Luxembourg. In that same year he qualified for the 1995 World Championships in Athletics - Men's 1500m. Louis Grech
Louis Grech (born 22 March 1947) is a Maltese politician who served as Deputy Prime Minister of Malta, as well as Minister of European Affairs. He also served as Deputy Leader for Parliamentary Affairs of the Labour Party. He currently serves as consultant to the Prime Minister Robert Abela and attends Cabinet. Career Air Malta Louis Grech was one of the first pioneers in the setting up and formation of the national flag carrier Air Malta under a Labour Government in 1973. Initially, he was responsible for Administration, organisational strategy, Personnel and industrial relations, as well as being Corporate Secretary of the Company. In 1979 Grech was appointed General Manager, and in 1985 he was appointed Managing Director and CEO of the national airline. Super League Triathlon
Super League Triathlon is a league of nonstandard triathlon-based races held in the traditional off-season of the sport. Every race involves a swim, bike and run element but all contain additional rules in an aim to test athletic ability, increase viewer excitement and increase the popularity of triathlon more globally. Maria Grech Ganado
Maria Grech Ganado (born 1943, in Lija), considered to be from Floriana, is a Maltese author and academic. Education Grech Ganado obtained her secondary education at St Joseph High School (Valletta) the Marija Regina Secondary School, in Hamrun. She attended the University of Malta where she obtained a BA in English Literature. She was awarded a second BA from the University of Cambridge. She went on to read for a Master's degree jointly between the University of Malta and the University of Heidelberg. She returned to Malta to take up an academic position in the Department of English at the University, and is notable for being the first Maltese female full-time lecturer at the University of Malta. She retired from teaching in 2003. Literary work Grech Ganado has written poetry in both Maltese and English, and is widely published.
