XX (Mushroomhead Album)
''XX'' (pronounced ''Double X'') is a compilation album by American metal band Mushroomhead, released in 2001. It was originally released through Eclipse Records, where Mushroomhead took classic tracks and remixed them. ''XX'' was later re-released on Universal Records in December of the same year. ''XX'' contains tracks from the band's three independently released albums – ''Mushroomhead'', '' Superbuick'' and '' M3''. Being the first ever Mushroomhead album released on a major label, ''XX''s re-release on Universal Records introduced Mushroomhead on a national and international level, while previously being just a regionally-known band. The album has sold over 300,000 copies. Musically, the album is primarily within the genres of industrial metal, nu metal and alternative metal with a diverse influence from genres such as gothic rock, punk rock, techno, and hip hop. Jason Popson
Jason Jonathan Popson (born November 2, 1971) is an American vocalist and rapper for metal band Mushroomhead taking the stage name J Mann. Prior to his initial departure from the band he was identified by his face paint, which was based on the film ''Dead Presidents''. Since 2014, he has worn a mask like the rest of the band. Biography Popson left Mushroomhead in mid-2004 due to being overworked and his father's terminal illness. Though it was previously confirmed that Popson would be featured on Mushroomhead's new studio album '' Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children'', it was revealed in an interview with Mushroomhead's lead singer Jeffrey Nothing that he would no longer be on the album. John Sekula
John Sekula (January 14, 1969 – October 28, 2010) was the original guitarist for heavy metal band Mushroomhead. Biography Also known as J.J. Righteous, Sekula was mostly identified as wearing an Ace Frehley mask, a welding mask, a troll-like monster mask and a Ghostface mask. He was replaced by Marko "Bronson" Vukcevich in 2001 after several issues with drugs. Sekula also played guitar for both State of Conviction and Unified Culture who are/were fronted by Mushroomhead vocalist Jason Popson. Death On October 28, 2010, Sekula suffered a massive heart failure and subsequently died. He was 41 years old. Jeff Hatrix, also known as Jeffrey Nothing (born Jeffrey Lewis Hetrick), is an American musician, best known as the former clean vocalist for the heavy metal band Mushroomhead. His nickname comes from a scene in '' Blue Velvet''. With a wide variety of face paint and mask designs, Jeffrey's most known look is that of a butcher. However, he revealed a new look in the music video of "Your Soul Is Mine", showing a tan skin mask that somewhat resembles the infamous Leatherface from the '' Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies''. Two of his masks were made from face-molds of famous actors Christopher Lloyd and Bela Lugosi. His most recent incarnation is that of a mask resembling human hands. ''Uranium'' was an American television program about heavy metal which aired on Fuse TV (MMUSA when the program debuted) in the early 2000s. After establishing herself as the host of MMUSA's ''Tastemakers'' program, Juliya Chernetsky, along with network producers, created ''Uranium'' as an outlet for the broad range of heavy metal subgenres. Debuting in 2002 and hosted by a 19-year-old Chernetsky, it served as Fuse TV's equivalent to MTV's ''Headbangers Ball'', a long-canceled series that was revived shortly after ''Uraniums debut. With new episodes premiering Friday nights at 9pm ET, the program traditionally ran a half-hour featuring an interview with a band and music videos.
