History XER-AM received its concession on August 23, 1943, restoring the call sign to use for the first time since the closure of John R. Brinkley's XER in Villa Acuña a decade earlier. XHR-FM is a radio station on 105.7 FM in Linares, Nuevo León, Mexico. It carries the La Caliente format from its owner, Multimedios Radio Multimedios Radio is the radio division of Grupo Multimedios, operating 31 radio stations in northern and central Mexico. Linares, Nuevo León
Linares is a small city in the state of Nuevo León, Mexico. The city serves as the administrative centre for the surrounding municipality of the same name and it is the largest urban centre of the so-called "orange belt" region. The city had a 2005 census population of 56,065, while the municipality's population was 71,061. The city and the municipality both rank tenth in population in the state. The municipality has an area of 2,445.2 km² (944.1 sq mi) and lies in the east-southeast part of the state on the border with the state of Tamaulipas. The municipality of Hualahuises is an enclave of Linares municipality. John R
John R. (born John Richbourg, August 20, 1910 - February 15, 1986) was an American radio disc jockey who attained fame in the 1950s and 1960s for playing rhythm and blues music on Nashville radio station WLAC. He was also a notable record producer and artist manager. Richbourg was arguably the most popular and charismatic of the four announcers at WLAC who showcased popular African-American music in nightly programs from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. (The other three were Gene Nobles, Herman Grizzard, and Bill "Hoss" Allen.) Later rock music disc jockeys, such as Alan Freed and Wolfman Jack, mimicked Richbourg's practice of using speech that simulated African-American street language of the mid-twentieth century. XER (Villa Acuña)
XER (1932–1933), licensed to Ciudad Acuña, Villa Acuña, Coahuila, Mexico, was John R. Brinkley's first high-powered Border blaster, "border-blaster" radio station. It first came on the air in 1932. It was shut down by the Mexican authorities in 1933 and the Villa Acuña Broadcasting Company was dissolved. History of XER XER called itself the "Sunshine Station between the Nations", and it broadcast on 735 kHz, on the Amplitude modulation, AM band from Villa Acuña, Coahuila. The owner was Dr. John R. Brinkley of Kansas, who established a management company called Villa Acuña Broadcasting Company located just across the Rio Grande in Del Rio, Texas. It first signed on August 18, 1932, with a 50-kW transmitter and claimed 75 kW power output via an omnidirectional antenna.
