Xuzhou East Railway Station
Xuzhou East railway station (; or Xuzhoudong railway station) is a station dedicated for high-speed railways in Xuzhou, Jiangsu, People's Republic of China. It is served by the Beijing–Shanghai high-speed railway and Xuzhou-Lanzhou high-speed railway (Eurasia Continental Bridge passageway). The new station for high-speed rail services was officially put into use on June 30, 2011. It is located at the approximate halfway point between Beijing and Shanghai on the Beijing-Shanghai railway. History On April 18, 2008, Xuzhou East Station officially began construction. After CRH380A rolling stock tests in December 2010, it opened for high-speed rail traffic on June 30, 2011. Expansion An expansion project for the station was announced by the Xuzhou High-Speed Railway Investment Company in August 2017 to change the east square of the station into an "integrated passenger transportation hub". Jiawang District
Jiawang District () is a suburban district of Xuzhou, Jiangsu province, China. It is located in the northern part of Xuzhou and adjacent to the prefecture-level city of Zaozhuang, Shandong in the north. Its economy was overwhelmingly dependent on coal, but , the last local mine closed. History Some people of the environs settled in Jiawang nowadays, since the late Ming. Xuzhou-Lanzhou High-Speed Railway
The Eurasia Continental Bridge corridor () is a high-speed rail corridor connecting Lianyungang, a port in northern Jiangsu province, to Ürümqi, the regional capital of Xinjiang. The corridor passes through the cities of Xuzhou (Jiangsu), Zhengzhou (Henan), Xi'an (Shaanxi), Lanzhou (Gansu), and Xining (Qinghai) en route. Announced in 2016 as part of the "eight verticals and eight horizontals" railway network plan, the rail corridor is an extension of the existing Xuzhou–Lanzhou high-speed railway. Xuzhou Metro
The Xuzhou Metro () is a rapid transit system in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, China. Construction began in February 2014, and Line 1 was opened on September 28, 2019, Line 2 was opened on November 28, 2020, and Line 3 was opened on June 28, 2021. By 2020, the network is scheduled to comprise three lines with a total length of about . The total investment is expected to be 44.3 billion renminbi. The system is planned to comprise 11 lines and of track when fully built out. In its first year of operation the ridership was 7.5 million (2019). An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks.
