Xtro
''Xtro'' is a 1983 British science fiction horror film directed by Harry Bromley Davenport. Starring Bernice Stegers, Philip Sayer, and Simon Nash, the film focuses on a father who was abducted by aliens and returns to his family three years later, where he goes in search of his son. Production of the film started and completed in February 1982. The film received largely negative reviews, though the special effects were praised. Plot As Sam Phillips and his son Tony are playing outside their farm, Sam is suddenly abducted by a bright light. Three years later, the light returns and plants a seed. A half-human, half-alien creature develops from the seed, and is hit by a car; the couple in the car are soon killed. The creature then goes to a cottage nearby, where it attacks and impregnates the young woman living there before dissolving. Harry Bromley Davenport
Harry Bromley-Davenport (born 15 March 1950 in London, England) is an English film director and producer as well as at the beginning of his career a screenwriter. He is most popular for the famous horror science-fiction video nasty ''Xtro'' (1983). He left the UK in 1990 and currently resides in Los Angeles. He became an American citizen in 1997. Film career Bromley-Davenport entered the film business in 1967 as an assistant to Nicholas Ray. Following his apprenticeship, Bromley-Davenport made his directorial debut with the little-seen ''Whispers of Fear'' (1976) and co-wrote the screenplay for ''The Haunting of Julia'' (1977), which was adapted from the Peter Straub novel ''Julia'' (1975) and starred Mia Farrow in the title role. His biggest commercial success came in the form of ''Xtro'' (1983) which spawned two sequels related in title only. ''Skeeter'' is a 1993 horror film starring Jim Youngs and Tracy Griffith and directed by Clark Brandon. The film was released in 1993, with the first video premiere being on April 6, 1994. It was panned by critics. The film was released on DVD as a stand-alone in the United States by Image Entertainment. Tim Dry (born 9 January 1952) is a mime artist, writer, photographic artist, musician and actor, best known for appearing in ''Return of the Jedi'' and the cult sci-fi/horror film ''Xtro''. Tim was a member of the duo Tik and Tok, that popularised robotic mime in the UK in the 1980s. Early years Tim Dry was born in Redhill, Surrey, in 1952. After leaving a Graphic Design Dip AD course at Reigate School of Art and Design in 1972, he moved to Brighton, Sussex to explore other areas of creativity, including painting, fine art and producing, along with other Reigate Art School alumni, ''The Cosmic Colouring Book'' which was published to acclaim in 1973. Robert Douglas Fyfe (25 September 1930 – 15 September 2021) was a Scottish actor, best known for his role as List of Last of the Summer Wine characters#Other regular characters, Howard in the long-running British sitcom ''Last of the Summer Wine'' from 1985 to 2010. Video nasty is a colloquial term popularised by the National Viewers' and Listeners' Association (NVALA) in the United Kingdom to refer to a number of films, typically low-budget horror or exploitation films, distributed on video cassette that were criticised for their violent content by the press, social commentators and various religious organisations in the early 1980s. These video releases were not brought before the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) due to a loophole in film classification laws that allowed videos to bypass the review process. The resulting uncensored video releases led to public debate concerning the availability of these films to children due to the unregulated nature of the market. Tik And Tok
Tik and Tok are the robotic mime and music duo of Tim Dry and Sean Crawford. They began performing together with Shock, a rock/mime/burlesque/music troupe in the early 1980s with Barbie Wilde, Robert Pereno, L.A. Richards and Carole Caplin. Shock's first record "Angel Face", with production by Rusty Egan and Richard James Burgess, was a modest dance floor hit. In 1981, Shock co-starred with Ultravox at the 'People's Palace Valentine's Ball' at the Rainbow Theatre. Shock went on to support Gary Numan at his Wembley Arena shows in April, 1981. They eventually broke up and reformed as a foursome with Wilde, Dry, Crawford and Caplin and released the single, "Dynamo Beat", on RCA Records.
