Xriss Jor
Xriss Jor (first name pronounced ‘Chris’; born June 17, 1986) is a Lebanese singer and artist. Born and raised in Yahchouch, Mount Lebanon, Lebanon, she gained prominence after her appearance on the talent show '' The Voice: Ahla Sawt''. In 2012, Jor came in fourth but went on to win the Dubai Music Week in 2013 where she received a management contract from Quincy Jones. Jor went on to cover Michael Jackson's "They Don't Care About Us" to comment on the garbage crisis happening in Lebanon, with Quincy's full support of her political statement. Lebanese People
The Lebanese people ( ar, الشعب اللبناني / ALA-LC: ', ) are the people inhabiting or originating from Lebanon. The term may also include those who had inhabited Mount Lebanon and the Anti-Lebanon Mountains prior to the creation of the modern Lebanese state. The major religious groups among the Lebanese people within Lebanon are Shia Muslims (27%), Sunni Muslims (27%), Maronite Christians (21%), Greek Orthodox Christians (8%), Melkite Christians (5%), Druze (5.2%), Protestant Christians (1%). The largest contingent of Lebanese, however, comprise a diaspora in North America, South America, Europe, Australia and Africa, which is predominantly Maronite Christian. As the relative proportion of the various sects is politically sensitive, Lebanon has not collected official census data on ethnic background since 1932 under the French Mandate. Yahchouch
Yahchouch ( ar, يحشوش) is a municipality in the Keserwan District of the Keserwan-Jbeil Governorate in Lebanon. It is located 42 kilometers north of Beirut. Its average elevation is 670 meters above sea level and its total land area is 636 hectares. Yahchouch's inhabitants are predominantly Maronites, Maronite Catholics and Christians from other denominations. The municipality has eight Maronite churches (St. Semaan, Wardieh, Saydet Ghoshraya, St. John, St. Takla, St. Therese, St. Bechara and Saydet Shouan) and several other Christian churches. Its inhabitants are entirely Christianity in Lebanon, Christian. The Lebanese surname "Yahchouchi" derives from this village. "They Don't Care About Us" is a song by American singer and songwriter Michael Jackson, released in April 16, 1996 as the fifth single from his ninth album, '' HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I'' (1995). 2015–2016 Lebanese Protests
2015 Lebanese protests were a series of protests in response to the government's failure to find solutions to a waste crisis caused by thclosure of the Beirut and Mount Lebanon region waste dump in Naameh(south of Beirut) in July 2015. The closure led the region's waste company Sukleen to suspend collection causing piles of rubbish to fill the streets. A series of small but increasing protests, led by grassroots organization "You Stink!," were held throughout the summer, culminating in large protests in August. These attracted thousands of demonstrators but also saw scuffles with police. The protest were categorized by comical slogans and imaginative chants which mostly linked political figures to the crisis. However, protesters were reported shouting a number of chants made popular during the Arab Spring uprisings across the region, including "Ash-shab yurid isqat an-nizam" (meaning "The people want to topple the regime").
