XpressMusic
XpressMusic was a brand name for a line of Nokia mobile phones that were specially designed for music playback. All of the XpressMusic handsets came with expandable MicroSD memory slots and dedicated music keys, so these phones could also be used as MP3 players. The XpressMusic range was launched in September 2006 to compete with the Walkman brand series from Sony Ericsson. Except for one device, being the Nokia 3250 XpressMusic edition, all XpressMusic models were marketed with the 5000 series prefixes. In September 2009, Nokia announced the Xseries line of phones. The Xseries replaced the XpressMusic brand. Nokia 5300
Nokia 5300 XpressMusic is a slider mobile phone by Nokia, part of the XpressMusic range. It was introduced on 26 September 2006 and released at the end of that year. It runs on Nokia Series 40 3rd Edition FP2. Overview The phone has a sleek slider design and features a 240×320 pixels (QVGA) TFT display and a 1.3-megapixel (CMOS) camera which can be used in landscape. It has dedicated music buttons on each side which makes it easy to access tracks in music player mode or tune in different stations in radio mode, with a 2.5 mm. headset jack. The Nokia 5320 XpressMusic is a Symbian OS S60 smartphone, released by Nokia in 2008 as a part of their XpressMusic line of portable devices. The phone has a rugged candybar body with outlined keypads. It emphasizes music and multimedia playback. S60 (software Platform)
The S60 Platform (formerly Series 60 User Interface) was a software platform for smartphones that runs on top of the Symbian operating system. It was created by Nokia based on the 'Pearl' user interface from Symbian Ltd. It was introduced at COMDEX in November 2001 and first shipped with the Nokia 7650 smartphone. The platform has since seen 5 updated editions. Series 60 was renamed to ''S60'' in November 2005. In 2008, the Symbian Foundation was formed to consolidate all the assets of different Symbian platforms (S60, UIQ, MOAP), making it open source. Nokia 5610 XpressMusic
The Nokia 5610 is a slider mobile phone from Nokia part of the XpressMusic series. Introduced August 2007 and launched in December, it runs on the Series 40 platform. The 5610's design is similar to that of the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic (announced same day), with aluminium brushed sides and bold side colours of either red, blue, white, or pink. Above the regular D-pad with music buttons, the 5610 features a "sliding switch" below the display for navigation. The phone is shown on Panic! at the Disco "That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed)" music video. LCD screen issues This phone has a known LCD screen defect that causes the screen to cease functioning. T-Mobile was aware of this and only temporarily halted sales before putting the phone back on the market, regardless of the problem never being fixed. Series 40
Series 40, often shortened as S40, is a software platform and application user interface (UI) software on Nokia's broad range of mid-tier feature phones, as well as on some of the Vertu line of luxury phones. It was one of the world's most widely used mobile phone platforms and found in hundreds of millions of devices. Nokia announced on 25 January 2012 that the company has sold over 1.5 billion Series 40 devices. It was not used for smartphones, with Nokia turning first to Symbian, then in 2012–2017 to Windows Phone, and most recently Android. The Nokia 3250 (code-named Thunder) is a smartphone running Symbian OS v9.1 ( S60 3rd Edition), announced on 26 September 2005. It features a unique 'twist' design that transforms the traditional phone keypad into a camera (90° CW/CCW) and dedicated music control keys (180° CCW). It was marketed as a music phone and can store up to 2 gigabytes of music (500 songs) and other data thanks to a microSD memory card slot, and features a two-megapixel camera as well as other smartphone capabilities. The Nokia 5200 is a Series 40 mobile phone manufactured by Nokia. Announced on 27 September 2006, it is less featured than its better counterpart, the Nokia 5300, and is not XpressMusic branded. Nokia N97
The Nokia N97 is a high-end smartphone introduced on 2 December 2008 by telecommunications manufacturer Nokia as part of its Nseries and released in June 2009 as the successor to the Nokia N96 phone. The N97 was Nokia's second S60-based touchscreen phone, after the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. The device featured slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and ran on the Symbian v9.4 (Symbian^1/S60 5th Edition) operating system. Its design took cues from the Nokia N79. A smaller 'mini' version was later released. At the time, the phone was Nokia's flagship device at a point where touchscreen devices were becoming increasingly prevalent, the N97 was highly anticipated.
