Xorret De Catí
The Xorret de Catí is a mountain in the Prebaetic System, southern Spain. It spans the province of Alicante. Xorret de Catí is open throughout the year. Cycling Xorret de Catí is one of the most famous cycling climbs in the Valencia region. It instantly become a hit with fans since its first appearance in the 1998 Vuelta a España - a stage won by tragic climber Chava Jiménez. The climb beginning just south of Castalla is undoubtedly the star side of Xorret de Catí, with consistently steep gradients - at times in excess of 20% - testing even the strongest of climbers. He finished first at the 2006 Tour de France, and would have been the third non-European winner in the event's history, but was disqualified after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. The 2017 Vuelta a España was a three-week Grand Tour cycling stage race that took place in Spain between 19 August and 10 September 2017. The race was the 72nd edition of the Vuelta a España and the final Grand Tour of the 2017 cycling season. The race started in Nîmes, France, and finished in Madrid. The 2009 Vuelta a España was the 64th Vuelta a España. The event took place from 29 August to 20 September 2009. For only the second time in the race's history, it began away from Spanish soil, with the race not in fact reaching Spain until Stage 5.
