Xlinks Morocco-UK Power Project
The Xlinks Morocco-UK Power Project is a proposal to create 10.5 GW of renewable generation, 20 GWh of battery storage and a 3.6GW high-voltage direct current interconnector to carry solar and wind-generated electricity from Morocco to the United Kingdom. Morocco has far more consistent weather, and so should provide consistent solar power even in midwinter. If built, the cable will be the longest undersea power cable by far, and would supply up to 7.5% of the UK's electricity consumption. Current status As of May 2022, Xlinks had secured "up to" £40million in development funding for the project, and it was reported to be close to appointing bankers to help raise the billions of pounds of investment funding required. ''Sky'' Business News reports that the company has "held extensive discussions with the Kgovernment about its plans, which are drawing particular interest in Whitehall". Power generation Generation is proposed from a solar farm covering around , together wit ...

Electrical Interconnectors To And From The Synchronous Grid Of Continental Europe
Electricity is the set of physical phenomena associated with the presence and motion of matter that has a property of electric charge. Electricity is related to magnetism, both being part of the phenomenon of electromagnetism, as described by Maxwell's equations. Various common phenomena are related to electricity, including lightning, static electricity, electric heating, electric discharges and many others. The presence of an electric charge, which can be either positive or negative, produces an electric field. The movement of electric charges is an electric current and produces a magnetic field. When a charge is placed in a location with a non-zero electric field, a force will act on it. The magnitude of this force is given by Coulomb's law. If the charge moves, the electric field would be doing work on the electric charge. Thus we can speak of electric potential at a certain point in space, which is equal to the work done by an external agent in carrying a unit of positiv ...

Spain-Morocco Interconnection
Spain-Morocco interconnection is a submarine power cable between Tarifa terminal in Spain and Fardioua terminal in Morocco. The purpose of the cable is to connect energy infrastructure between Europe and Africa. The Spain-Morocco interconnection includes two 400 kV lines, commissioned in 1997 and 2006 that have a combined power of 800 MW and consisting of seven cables: three for each circuit, plus one for reserve. Expansion The two countries are planning to extend the network building a third 400-kV link with a 700 MW capacity. The cost of the project is expected to be $169 million, shared equally between Spain and Morocco. Australia-Asia Power Link
The Australia–Asia Power Link (AAPowerLink) is a proposed electricity infrastructure project that is planned to include the world's largest solar plant, the world's largest battery, and the world's longest submarine power cable. A solar farm in Northern Territory, Australia, will produce up to 20 gigawatts of electricity, most of which will be exported to Singapore, and at a later point Indonesia, by a 3GW HVDC transmission line. A 36-42 GWh battery is planned to store energy to levelize energy availability as sunlight varies throughout the day. The AAPowerLink is being developed by the Singaporean firm Sun Cable and is projected to begin construction in mid-2023, with operation starting in early 2026 and completion by late 2027. The project will add AU$8 billion to the economy of the Northern Territory, then exporting AU$2 billion of electricity every year. Design The solar plant would be in the Northern Territory near Elliott and Tennant Creek in the Barkly Region, usi ...

Icelink
Icelink is a proposed electricity interconnector between Iceland and the United Kingdom via Great Britain. At , the 8001,200MW high-voltage direct current (HVDC) link would be the longest sub-sea power interconnector in the world. The project partners for the main proposal are National Grid plc in the UK, Landsvirkjun, the state-owned generator in Iceland, and Landsnet, the Icelandic Transmission System Operator (TSO). An alternative proposal by Edi Truell's company Disruptive Capital Finance goes by the name "Atlantic SuperConnection", but it requires UK government financing. According to Landsvirkjun, it will take about five years to complete feasibility and other work, and if a decision is made to go ahead, construction and installation would take a further five to six years. Status In 2017, the main proposal for the project was still at the feasibility stage, and, , no further progress had been reported. As of 2019, the "Atlantic SuperConnection" proposal had still not ...
