Xie Tiao
Xie Tiao (; style name: Xuan Hui (玄辉)) (464–499) was the leading Southern Qi poet of the Yongming reign. He was known as "Xiao Xie" (that is, "Little Xie") in comparison with Xie Lingyun. Southern Qi
Qi, known in historiography as the Southern Qi ( or ) or Xiao Qi (), was a Chinese imperial dynasty and the second of the four Southern dynasties during the Northern and Southern dynasties era. It followed the Liu Song dynasty and was succeeded by the Liang dynasty. The main polity to its north were the Northern Wei. History The dynasty began in 479, when Xiao Daocheng forced the Emperor Shun of Liu Song (宋顺帝) into yielding the throne to him, ending Liu Song and starting Southern Qi, as its Emperor Gao. The dynasty's name was taken from Xiao's fief, which roughly occupied the same territory as the Warring States era Kingdom of Qi. Diana Bridge
Diana Bridge (born 1942 in Wellington) is a New Zealand poet. She attended Queen Margaret College and Victoria University of Wellington. She lived most of her adult life in various parts of Asia, including India and China, and as an adult she completed a PhD in classical Chinese poetry at the Australian National University. She began writing poetry in her 50s. In 2010 she was awarded the Lauris Edmond Memorial Award for her distinguished contribution to New Zealand poetry. In 2014 her essay "An attachment to China" won the Landfall Essay Competition. In 2015, she completed a residency at the Writers' and Artists' Colony at Yaddo in New York. She won the Sarah Broom Poetry Prize in the same year. She shared her poem ''Dream Sound'' for Chinese language week in 2021. ''Shanshui'' poetry or ''Shanshui shi'' (; lit. "mountains and rivers poetry") refers to the movement in Chinese poetry, poetry, influenced by the ''shan shui'' (landscape) painting style, which became known as ''Shanshui poetry'', or "landscape poetry". Northern And Southern Dynasties
The Northern and Southern dynasties () was a period of political division in the history of China that lasted from 420 to 589, following the tumultuous era of the Sixteen Kingdoms and the Eastern Jin dynasty. It is sometimes considered as the latter part of a longer period known as the Six Dynasties (220–589). Albeit an age of civil war and political chaos, it was also a time of flourishing arts and culture, advancement in technology, and the spread of Mahayana Buddhism and Daoism. The period saw large-scale migration of the Han people to the lands south of the Yangtze. The period came to an end with the unification of all of China proper by Emperor Wen of the Sui dynasty.
