Xi Enting
Xi Enting ( 3 January 1946 – 27 October 2019) was a male table tennis player from China. Xi was born in 1946 in Tangshan, Hebei, Republic of China. He trained at Baoding Amateur Sports School and entered the Chinese National Table Tennis Team at age 19. From 1971 to 1975, Xi won four medals in singles, doubles, and team events in the World Table Tennis Championships and several medals in the Asian Table Tennis Championships. The four world medals included two gold medals in the men's team event at the 1971 World Table Tennis Championships and the men's singles at the 1973 World Table Tennis Championships. Xi died from thoracic aortic rupture on 27 October 2019, aged 73. Table Tennis
Table tennis, also known as ping-pong and whiff-whaff, is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight ball, also known as the ping-pong ball, back and forth across a table using small solid rackets. It takes place on a hard table divided by a net. Except for the initial serve, the rules are generally as follows: Players must allow a ball played toward them to bounce once on their side of the table and must return it so that it bounces on the opposite side. A point is scored when a player fails to return the ball within the rules. Play is fast and demands quick reactions. Spinning the ball alters its trajectory and limits an opponent's options, giving the hitter a great advantage. Table tennis is governed by the worldwide organization International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), founded in 1926. ITTF currently includes 226 member associations.
