These plants grow in the high mountains of the Andes.Funk, V. A. (1997)''Xenophyllum'', a new Andean genus extracted from ''Werneria s.l.'' (Compositae: Senecioneae).''Novon'', 235-241. These species grow from rhizomes and form tight mats on the ground. Most have white ray florets and yellow or white disc florets.
