Xenia, Kansas
Xenia ( ) is an unincorporated community in Franklin Township, Bourbon County, Kansas, United States. History Settling in the Xenia area in 1856, the year after Bourbon County was organized in 1855, were John Van Syckle, Samuel Stephenson and Charles Anderson. John Van Syckle and his father laid out Xenia's village plat in 1858. The community was named after Xenia, Ohio. The younger Van Syckle opened the village's first store, offering general merchandise. Xenia gained a post office on November 29, 1858, when the Peru (Linn County) post office was moved to Xenia. Peru, which is now a ghost town, had a post office from August 5 to November 29, 1858. As well as being Xenia's first merchant, John Van Syckle became Xenia's first postmaster. The first church building was built in 1876 by the Methodists. Area Code 620
Area code 620 covers telephone exchanges in most of southern Kansas. It was created as the result of a split from 316 on February 3, 2001. The area code stretches across the southern half of the state, from the Colorado border in the west to the Missouri border in the east. It completely surrounds 316, which now only serves Wichita and its inner suburbs, making it one of the six pairs of "doughnut area codes" in the numbering plan. Permissive dialing of 316 across southern Kansas continued until November 3, 2001. The most populous cities covered by the area code are Dodge City, Garden City, Hutchinson and Pittsburg. 620 was created due to the growing proliferation of cell phones in the Wichita area. With the great majority of the old 316's landlines and cell phones located in the Wichita area, 620 is one of the most thinly populated area codes in the nation. Fort Scott, Kansas
Fort Scott is a city in and the county seat of Bourbon County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 7,552. It is named for Gen. Winfield Scott. The city is located south of Kansas City on the Marmaton River. It is the home of the Fort Scott National Historic Site and the Fort Scott National Cemetery. History Established and garrisoned by the U.S. Army from 1842–1853, soldiers at military Fort Scott assisted with the protection of the Permanent Indian Frontier. After the army abandoned the fort in 1853, the buildings were purchased by local settlers at a government auction in 1855. Little Osage River

K-65 (Kansas Highway)
K-65 is an approximately west–east state highway located entirely within Bourbon County in eastern Kansas. K-65's western terminus is at K-3 north of Bronson. The highway travels east through the community of Xenia to its eastern terminus at K-31 in Mapleton. K-65 travels mostly through rural land and is a two-lane highway its entire length. K-65 was first established in 1932, as K-69 to the former alignment of K-3. By 1934, it was renumbered as K-65 to avoid confusion with U.S. Route 69 (US-69), which had been extended into Kansas. Prior to 1957, K-65 originally turned north in Xenia and ended at K-31 in Osage. Then K-31 was rerouted onto a new alignment between Blue Mound and Mapleton. Xenia ( ) is a city in southwestern Ohio and the county seat of Greene County, Ohio, United States.
