Xavier Truss
Xavier Doyle Truss (born July 13, 2001), is an American football guard for the Georgia Bulldogs. He is the highest rated recruit in Rhode Island high school football history. Early life and high school Truss was born on July 13, 2001, in West Warwick, Rhode Island. He played high school football for Bishop Hendricken High School where he was selected to represent the East in the 2019 All-American Bowl, he was also invited to the All-American high school combine in San Antonio. In his junior year he was a Providence First-Team All-State selection, while leading Bishop Hendricken to back-to-back Rhode Island State Super Bowl appearances, winning in 2018. College career In 2019, Truss started his freshman year with the Bulldogs by being redshirted; seeing action against Murray State, Arkansas State, and Georgia Tech. In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center (American football), center and the offensive tackle, tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for Blocking (American football), blocking. Tackle is a playing position in gridiron football. Historically, in the one-platoon system prevalent in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, a tackle played on both offense and defense. In the modern system of specialized units, offensive tackle and defensive tackle are separate positions, and the stand-alone term "tackle" refers to the offensive tackle position only. Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university. However, in a redshirt year, student athletes may attend classes at the college or university, practice with an athletic team, and "suit up" (wear a team uniform) for play – but they may compete in only a limited number of games (see " Use of status" section).
