XHYK-FM
XHYK-FM 101.5 is a radio station in Conkal, Yucatán, Mexico, primarily serving Mérida. It is known as Xé'ek. History XEYK-AM 710 received its concession on September 8, 1978. Like its sister XHRRF-FM, it was part of Grupo Rivas, initially owned by Luis Alberto Rivas Aguilar, and it broadcast with 5,000 watts day and 250 night. In 1999, XEYK was sold to Radimágica de Yucatán, which in turn sold it in 2004 to Siglo XXI, a subsidiary of Grupo Radio México, in turn absorbed by GRC in 2016. Grupo Radio Centro is a Mexico City-based owner and operator of radio stations. It owns 30 radio stations in Mexico and the United States, including 8 radio stations in Mexico City. History Radio Centro's origins date to 1946, when Francisco Aguirre Jiménez formed the Cadena Radio Continental to operate XEQR-AM 1030 and new station XERC-AM 790 in Mexico City. Organización Radio Centro was formed in 1952, and the current company was founded in 1971. In 1965, it founded OIR (Organización Impulsora de la Radio), which syndicates Radio Centro's formats to stations across Mexico. Its non-Mexico City business extended further in the 1980s, when Radio Centro began selling its formats outside the United States (in 1983) and created Cadena Radio Centro (in 1986) to manage this portion of its operations. XHRRF-FM
XHRRF-FM 88.5 is a radio station in Conkal, Yucatán. History On June 8, 1962, two years after it signed on, XERRF-AM 1150 was awarded to Rafael Rivas Franco, the founder of Grupo Rivas, which still owns many radio stations in Mérida and Yucatán. The station was originally known as Radio Felicidad. In 1967, the station concession passed to Radio Peninsular, S.A., and again in 1997 to Radio Juvenil del Sureste, S.A. de C.V. Not long after, XERRF moved to 860, and soon after that, in the mid-2000s, it was sold to Grupo Radiodigital Siglo XXI, S.A. de C.V., which was in turn sold to Grupo Radio México. At some point thereafter, XERRF changed concessionaires. On June 4, 2010, XERRF received permission to migrate to FM as XHRRF-FM 88.5. Conkal Municipality
Conkal Municipality (In the Yucatec Maya Language: "place of twenty sales" or "place of the parasitic plant ''cuunka''") is one of the 106 municipalities in the Mexican state of Yucatán containing (57.48 km2) of land and located roughly 16 km northeast of the city of Mérida. History There is no accurate data on when the town was founded, though it existed before the conquest and in antiquity belonged to the chieftainship of Ceh Pech. At colonization, Conkal became part of the encomienda system and was part of the parcels taken by Francisco de Montejo the Younger.
