XHSQB-FM
XEQIN-AM/XHSQB-FM (''La Voz del Valle'' – "The Voice of the Valley") is an indigenous community radio station that broadcasts in Spanish, Mixtec, Zapotec and Triqui from San Quintín in the Mexican state of Baja California. It is run by the Cultural Indigenist Broadcasting System (SRCI) of the National Commission for the Development of Indigenous Peoples (CDI). History XEQIN began broadcasting on 15 June 1994 on 1290 kHz with a power of 2,500 watts. In the first quarter of 2006, its transmission facility was upgraded to 10,000 watts and it relocated to 1160 kHz. It transmits daily from 05:00 to 19:00 hours, with a potential audience of 260,000 people. The Sistema de Radiodifusoras Culturales Indígenas (SRCI; en, Indigenous Cultural Broadcasting System) is a state-owned network of radio stations in Mexico. The radio stations it operates are community radio stations that aim to serve different sectors of the country's indigenous peoples. Pursuant to Article 4 of the Constitution, their mission is to strengthen the multicultural nature of the nation by promoting the use of 31 indigenous languages. San Quintín is a city in San Quintín Municipality, Baja California, located on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. The city had a population of 4777 in 2011. San Quintín is an important agricultural center for Baja California. The city is also an emerging tourist destination, known for its sand dunes and beaches. A clear-channel station is an AM broadcasting, AM radio station in North America that has the highest protection from Interference (communication), interference from other stations, particularly concerning night-time skywave propagation. The system exists to ensure the viability of cross-country or cross-continent radio service enforced through a series of treaties and statutory laws.
