XHSP-FM
XHSP-FM is a radio station on 99.7 FM in Monterrey, Nuevo León. The station is owned by El Heraldo de México with its El Heraldo Radio news format. History XHSP was the first radio station owned by Grupo Radio México, a corporate cousin of GRC that merged into it in 2016. It received its concession on May 15, 1973, and it was then owned by Luis Ignacio Santibañez Patino. Radio Emisora XHSP-FM became the concessionaire in 1986; it eventually became the legal owner for almost all GRC stations in Monterrey, namely those that were formerly part of GRM. In 2020, Grupo Radio Centro put ten stations up for sale, including XHSP-FM. ''El Heraldo de México'' is a Mexican national daily newspaper published in Mexico City. Initially founded in 1965, after a 14-year absence of the name, the newspaper was relaunched on May 2, 2017. History Original ''El Heraldo de México'' The original newspaper was launched by the Alarcón family on November 9, 1965. The newspaper came on the scene as a technological leader, with a Goss Urbanite press and eventually a custom-built facility in the Colonia Doctores neighborhood. Grupo Radio México was a Mexican owner of radio stations that operated from 1973 to 2015. In 2015, it was absorbed into Grupo Radio Centro, which owns most of GRM's former stations. History Grupo Radio México was founded by Francisco Aguirre Gómez, son of Grupo Radio Centro founder Francisco Aguirre Jiménez, in 1973. Its first radio station was XHSP-FM 99.7 in Monterrey. Grupo Radio Centro is a Mexico City-based owner and operator of radio stations. It owns 30 radio stations in Mexico and the United States, including 8 radio stations in Mexico City. History Radio Centro's origins date to 1946, when Francisco Aguirre Jiménez formed the Cadena Radio Continental to operate XEQR-AM 1030 and new station XERC-AM 790 in Mexico City. Organización Radio Centro was formed in 1952, and the current company was founded in 1971. In 1965, it founded OIR (Organización Impulsora de la Radio), which syndicates Radio Centro's formats to stations across Mexico. XHCHL-FM is a radio station on 90.1 FM serving Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. It is owned by and known as . History XHCHL received its concession on November 23, 1994. XHCHL was authorized to broadcast with 15,000 (later 20,000) watts on 99.1 MHz from China, Nuevo León. On July 15, 1996, the station came to air with a grupera format known as "La Picosa". In 2007, XHCHL moved to 106.5 MHz. In 2010, XHCHL was authorized to move to Los Ramones and broadcast on 90.1. Initially, XHCHL on 90.1 was Beat 90.1, a dance Top 40 station featuring s a current-based mix of dance music, with Top 40 and R&B remixes, along with electronica and house music.
