XHPX-FM
XHPX-FM is a Spanish & English Top 40 (CHR) station at 98.3 FM in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico. It broadcasts from studios on Mesa Street in El Paso, Texas, United States and a transmitter atop Cerro Bola in Juárez. The station is very popular with Mexican American teens. Exa is also responsible for many concerts in El Paso, such as The Exa Party. History XHPX received its concession on October 18, 1977. It was owned by Ángel Beltrán Elizarraraz. In 1993, it was sold to F.M. Globo de Juárez, S.A. de C.V., which in turn transferred the concession to Frecuencia Modulada de Mexicali in May 1999, MVS de Juárez in December 1999, and Stereorey México in 2012. All are subsidiaries of MVS. In 2005, XHPX began originating most programming from its studios in El Paso. Border Blaster
A border blaster is a broadcast station that, though not licensed as an external service, is, in practice, used to target another country. The term "border blaster" is of North American origin, and usually associated with Mexican AM stations whose broadcast areas cover large parts of the United States, and United States border AM stations covering large parts of Canada. Conceptually similar European broadcasting included some pre-World War II broadcasting towards the United Kingdom, " radio périphérique" around France and the U.S. government-funded station Radio Free Europe, targeting eastern Europe. With broadcasting signals far more powerful than those of U.S. stations, the Mexican border blasters could be heard over large areas of the U.S. from the 1940s to the 1970s, often to the great irritation of American radio stations, whose signals could be overpowered by their Mexican counterparts. Ciudad Juárez
Ciudad Juárez ( ; ''Juarez City''. ) is the most populous city in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. It is commonly referred to as Juárez and was known as El Paso del Norte (''The Pass of the North'') until 1888.
