XHLC-FM/XELC-AM is a radio station in La Piedad, Michoacán. Broadcasting on 92.7 FM and 980 AM, XHLC is owned by the Guizar family and known as Radio Pía. History The concession for XELC-AM was awarded to Heriberto Guizar Castro in August 1945. The FM station was obtained in 1994. La Piedad, Michoacán
La Piedad is a municipality located at in the north-west of the Mexican state of Michoacán, bordering Jalisco and Guanajuato. The municipal seat is the town of La Piedad de Cabadas. The original colonial name was San Sebastián. It is bordered by the town of Santa Ana Pacueco, Guanajuato. Both towns straddle the Lerma River. La Piedad's population was 99,837 inhabitants in the 2010 census (250,000 including its metropolitan area). The municipality has an area of 284.11 km² (109.7 sq mi). It is bordered by the states of Jalisco and Guanajuato. Limits La Piedad, "north door" of the state of Michoacán, surrounding the Lerma river, has limits at the north with the municipalities of Degollado, Jalisco and Pénjamo, Guanajuato; at the east with the municipality of Numarán, Michoacán; at the south with the municipalities of Zináparo, Churintzio, and Ecuandureo, Michoacán; and at the west with the municipality of Yurécuaro. XHLP-FM is a radio station on 89.9 FM in La Piedad, Michoacán. It is owned by Guizar Comunicación Integral and carries the Exa FM pop format from MVS Radio {{primary sources, date=December 2011 MVS Radio are a group of four international Spanish-language radio networks owned by the mass media conglomerate MVS Comunicaciones. The group of radio networks consists of Exa FM, La Mejor, FM Globo and MVS No .... History XELP-AM received its concession on March 15, 1969. It was owned by Olga Ramírez de Fabre and broadcast with 250 watts day and 100 night on 1170 kHz. In 1976, XELP was sold to Ernestina Ayala Tejeda. It moved to 1230 in the 1990s in order to increase power to 1 kW. XELP received approval to migrate to FM in 2011.
