XHEOM-FM is a radio station on 98.5 FM in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz. It is an owned and operated station of Radio Fórmula. History XEOM-AM 1340 received its concession on May 18, 1950. Owned by Radio Coatzacoalcos, S.A., XEOM broadcast with 1,000 watts day and 250 night. The station was later sold to Radio Fórmula and moved to 590 kHz, with a power of 1 kW day and night. XEOM was cleared for AM-FM migration in 2010 as XHEOM-FM 98.5. It was the second time XEOM had expanded to the FM band. XHOM-FM is a radio station on 107.5 FM in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico. History In 1961, Radio Coatzacoalcos, S.A., the owners of XEOM-AM 1340, became one of several dozen Mexican AM station owners to experiment with FM broadcasting. The early experiments, including XEOM-FM which received its concession on April 17, 1961, involved many stations broadcasting on even decimal frequencies; XEOM, at 88.4 MHz with an effective radiated power of 3.8 kW, is among the few left standing in any capacity. By 1969, Radio Coatzacoalcos, S.A. was owned by Francisco Ibarra López, founder of Grupo ACIR. At the end of the 1960s, the abandonment of even decimal frequency FM stations, which were scarcely used in the Americas, meant the relocation of the remaining stations broadcasting in such a capacity. Coatzacoalcos () is a major port city in the southern part of the Mexican state of Veracruz, mostly on the western side of the Coatzacoalcos River estuary, on the Bay of Campeche, on the southern Gulf of Mexico coast. Radio Fórmula is a Mexican talk radio network. Founded in 1968, Radio Fórmula programs are broadcast on more than 100 stations in Mexico as well as several stations in the United States. It is the flagship product of Grupo Fórmula, which also owns the TeleFórmula cable news network and PM Onstreet, an outdoor advertising firm. History Grupo Formula traces its beginnings to 1968, when several Mexico City stations were split from Emilio Azcárraga Vidaurreta’s Radiópolis system. Among these was XEDF-AM 970. By 1984, Radio Fórmula operated five Mexico City stations: 970 AM, 1470 AM, 1500 AM, 103.3 FM and 104.1 FM.
