XERA-TV
XHFI-TDT is the television call sign for the Televisa television station on virtual channel 2 in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico. The station repeats the Las Estrellas network. History XHFI received its concession on April 30, 1963, and signed on in 1964 as XERA-TV; the station broadcast on analog channel 11 and then moved to 5. XERA changed its calls to the current XHFI-TDT by 1969. It was the first television station in the city of Chihuahua. The station was partly local in the mornings until XHAUC-TV signed on in 1996. Digital transmissions began in 2013; the station shut off analog on December 31, 2015. Digital television XHFI-TDT broadcasts on RF channel 26 (virtual channel 2). Foro (English: "Forum"), is a broadcast news television channel owned by TelevisaUnivision. It is seen on most Mexican cable systems and full-time on two stations in Mexico, including XHTV-TDT in Mexico City, with selected programs airing on Televisa Regional and Televisa local stations. Foro is available on most Mexican cable and fiber-optic systems and the SKY Mexico satellite service, as well as on several national cable systems in the United States. History FOROtv launched on cable and satellite on February 15, 2010, and marked Televisa's return to the cable news business after operating the Noticias ECO service between 1988 and 2001. On August 30 of that year, it made its broadcast television debut when XHTV ditched its programming lineup aimed at Mexico City to carry FOROtv's programs. Las Estrellas ("The Stars"; previously El Canal de las Estrellas, or "The Channel of the Stars") is one of the cornerstone networks of TelevisaUnivision, with affiliate stations all over Mexico, flagshipped at XEW-TDT in Mexico City. Many of the programs of ''Las Estrellas'' are seen in the United States on Univision, UniMás, and Galavisión. History Las Estrellas originated from XEW-TV, which began broadcasting on 21 March 1951. The channel was a sister station to the legendary XEW-AM radio station, owned by Emilio Azcárraga Vidaurreta, which was also the owner of the newly launched channel. Televisa
Grupo Televisa is a Mexican multimedia mass media company. A major Latin American mass media corporation, it often presents itself as the largest producer of Spanish-language content. Canal 5 is a Mexican free-to-air television network owned by TelevisaUnivision. It traces its origins to the foundation of Channel 5 in Mexico City in 1952 (also known by its identification code XHGC-TDT). Canal 5's program lineup is generally targeted at a younger audience and includes cartoons, foreign series and movies, along with a limited number of sporting events such as NFL games, boxing, the FIFA World Cup and, historically, the Olympic Games. In broadcasting and radio communications, a call sign (also known as a call name or call letters—and historically as a call signal—or abbreviated as a call) is a unique identifier for a transmitter station. A call sign can be formally assigned by a government agency, informally adopted by individuals or organizations, or even cryptographically encoded to disguise a station's identity. The use of call signs as unique identifiers dates to the landline railroad telegraph system. XHAUC-TDT
XHAUC-TDT (virtual channel 6) is a television station affiliated with Canal 6 (Mexico), Multimedios Televisión in Chihuahua, Chihuahua. The concession for the station is held by Telemisión, S.A. de C.V., a business of José de Jesús Partida Villanueva. It is co-owned with XHTX-TDT in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas. Partida Villanueva also built XEJPV-AM in Ciudad Juárez. History XHAUC received its concession on November 15, 1991 but did not sign on until 1996. Telemisión's application beat out competing bids from eleven other applicants for the station.
