Xefw-am
XHFW-FM/XEFW-AM is a radio station in Tampico, operating on 88.5 FM. It's owned and operated by Multimedios Radio. 810 AM is a United States clear-channel frequency; KGO (AM), KGO and WGY (AM), WGY share list of broadcast station classes, Class A status on this frequency. History XEFW-AM 1240 received its concession in 1932. The 70-watt station owned by José Expedito Martínez until 1937, when the Flores family entered broadcasting by way of a joint partnership with Martínez. XEFW later moved to 810 kHz and ramped up its power to 50,000 watts day and night, earning it the distinction of being a border blaster in the eyes of some. In the 1980s, XEFW cut its power back to 10,000 watts day and a mere 250 watts at night, later boosted back to 50,000/1,000. XHFW-TDT
XHFW-TDT is an independent television station in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. It is owned by Grupo Flores. History XHFW came to air on analog channel 9 on March 8, 1971; the inaugural program on that first day featured the Fight of the Century boxing match. The station was owned by the Flores family alongside two AM radio stations, XHFW-FM, XEFW-AM 810 and XHTW-FM, XETW-AM 860; the company started a third station, XHON-FM, in 1980. The station aired programming from Mexico City stations, first from Televisión Independiente de México and then from Televisa's Canal 5 (Mexico), Canal 5 after TIM merged with Telesistema Mexicano. It signed on in digital in 2015. The term "border blaster" is of North American origin, and usually associated with Mexican AM stations whose broadcast areas cover large parts of the United States, and United States border AM stations covering large parts of Canada. Conceptually similar European broadcasting included some pre-World War II broadcasting towards the United Kingdom, " radio périphérique" around France and the U.S. government-funded station Radio Free Europe, targeting eastern Europe. WGY (810 kHz "NewsRadio WGY") is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Schenectady, New York, and serving the Capital District including the Albany-Schenectady-Troy radio market. It is owned by iHeartMedia, and it airs a News/Talk radio format. Programming is simulcast on WGY-FM 103.1 MHz. WGY is one of the first stations in the United States and the oldest to operate continuously in New York State, having launched on February 20, 1922. WGY is a Class A clear channel station powered at 50,000 watts using a non-directional antenna. It transmits from a single tower located off Mariaville Road, near the New York State Thruway, in the Town of Rotterdam. XHTAO-TDT
XHTAO-TDT channel 14 (virtual channel 6) is a Canal 6 (Mexico), Multimedios Television affiliate in Tampico, Tamaulipas. Before the analog shutdown, XHTAO's audio signal could be heard at 87.7 MHz on FM radios, though at a slightly lower volume than other FM stations, due to technical reasons. After the analog shutdown, this couldn't be possible due to the nature of digital TV. Programming XHTAO broadcasts a large amount of local programming, including local editions of Multimedios's flagship news program ''Telediario''. The digital station began operations on August 1, 2012. XHTAO has one digital repeater, in Gustavo Garmendia, San Luis Potosí. In March 2018, in order to facilitate the repacking of TV services out of the 600 MHz band (channels 38-51), XHTAO was assigned channel 14 for continued digital operations.
