Wynand Claassen
Wynand Claassen (born 16 January 1951, in Schweizer-Reneke) is a former South African rugby player and Springbok captain. Playing career He was selected as eighth-man for Northern Transvaal whilst studying architecture at the University of Pretoria in the late 1970s. He formed a loose-trio with Thys Lourens and Burger Geldenhuys and soon had two Currie Cup final victories, in 1975 and 1977. In 1980 he moved to Natal and was selected for the Springboks in 1981, captaining the team on his debut against Ireland. Despite Natal's relegation to the Currie Cup B section at the end of 1981 he continued as Springbok captain until 1984. He played seven test matches for the Springboks, all as captain and also played in six tour matches, scoring two tries. Claassen is credited with reviving rugby at the University of Natal, both as a player and later as a coach. In 1988 he coached the Durban campus of the University of Natal to the Moor Cup title. Wynand Havenga (born 6 September 1965) is a South African former professional darts player. Career He made his television debut at the 2007 PDC World Darts Championship as a qualifier, having beaten almost 100 players to win the South African Masters and thus earn his place at the Circus Tavern. He beat Steve Maish in the first round and then conquered established pro Peter Manley in round two, but bowed out in the last 16 to Darren Webster. Andrew Wynand Louw (born 18 May 1961) is a Namibian cricket umpire who is on the ICC Associates and Affiliates Umpire Panel. He made his first-class umpiring debut in 2006, and regularly umpires in International Cricket Council (ICC) tournaments and other competitions in which the Namibian national side participates. Born in Windhoek, before taking up umpiring Louw was the head groundsman for Cricket Namibia, responsible for the upkeep of most major pitches in the country. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Wynand Malan (born 25 May 1943) is a liberal Afrikaner South African politician. A lawyer, Malan entered politics in the 1977 South African election when he was elected to the South Africa's all white parliament as the National Party MP for Randburg. A member of the NP's reform wing, he was critical of P.W. Botha for being too timid in his constitutional reforms in the 1980s and was also critical of the state of emergency implemented by Botha. In the 1987 general election, he left the NP and ran as one of three independent candidates along with former ambassador to London Dennis Worrall and businesswoman Susan Lategan. He was the only one of the trio elected, probably because he was the only incumbent. He subsequently quarreled with Worrall and so the two formed two separate political parties after the election. Wynand Olivier (born 11 June 1983) is a South African professional rugby union player. He currently plays for Worcester Warriors in the English Aviva Premiership competition. His usual position is at centre. Career Olivier made his provincial rugby debut for the Blue Bulls in the Currie Cup in a match against Boland in 2003.
