Adam Martin Wyant
Adam Martin Wyant (September 15, 1869 – January 5, 1935) was an American politician who served as Republican Party (United States), Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. He served six terms, a total of twelve years, in the House. Wyant is also remembered for being the first professional American football, football player to be elected to the United States Congress. He played football from 1895 until 1897 with the Greensburg Athletic Association, an early professional club from Greensburg, Pennsylvania. He is also known for playing college football, collegiate football for Bucknell University and the University of Chicago from 1890 through 1893. Alexander Helwig Wyant (January 11, 1836November 29, 1892) was an American landscape painter. His early works belonged to the Hudson River School, with its direct pastoral narrative, but evolved into the more moody and shadowy Tonalism. After a stroke which paralysed his right arm, he taught himself to paint with his left. Biography Alexander Wyant was born at Port Washington, Ohio. He started painting beside the Ohio River when he was in Cincinnati, Ohio. A landscape painter in the style of George Inness, whom he later met in New York City. His early paintings followed closely the Hudson River School tradition, while the later—infused with low-key colors, atmospheric features and poetic interpretation—are representative of tonalism. Andrew Robert Elmer Wyant (May 20, 1867 - June 16, 1964) was an American football player, who played eight varsity seasons of college football, for an unprecedented total of 73 consecutive games, from 1887 to 1894. During this era of football, teams dressed in poorly made equipment and usually played heavy schedules. For example, during Wyant's final season in 1894 alone, he played in 23 games. Wyant began his playing career for Bucknell University in 1887, while still a student in high school. He would go on to play five more seasons with the team. During his career, Wyant was nicknamed "Polyphemus," by his teammates, after the cyclops in Greek mythology. In 1892, he left Bucknell to attend the University of Chicago Divinity School. Wyant (born November 22, 1968) is an American health and fitness entrepreneur who is President and CEO of the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) and the 2022 CEO World Awards winner. He was previously President of the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Emily Kathryn Wyant (1897–1942) was an American mathematician known as the founder of Kappa Mu Epsilon, a mathematical honor society focusing on undergraduate education. Early life and education Wyant was born on January 16, 1897, in Ipava, Illinois. Her father was a student in Illinois and later a shopkeeper in Bolivar, Missouri, where she graduated from high school in 1914. She attended the University of Missouri on a part time and summer basis while supporting herself as a school teacher, finally completing a bachelor's degree in education in 1921. She became a mathematics instructor at Missouri, while continuing her own education there. She earned a master's degree in physics in 1922, with a minor in mathematics, and completed her Ph.D. in 1929. Frederick Mount Wyant Jr. (April 26, 1934 – March 20, 2021) was an American football quarterback who went on to serve as an official in the National Football League (NFL) for 27 years from 1966 through 1992, with 19 of those years (1971–1989) as a referee. Wyant originally wore number 75 as an official before switching to number 11, which he wore as a player, in 1983. (He also wore #11 from 1979 through 1981, when officials were numbered separately by position, instead of together as a pool). Gordon S. Wyant, King's Counsel, KC (born 1957) is a lawyer and politician from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Wyant currently serves as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan since winning a by-election in 2010. He resigned from Cabinet after announcing on August 25, 2017 that he would be running for the Saskatchewan Party Leadership to replace Premier of Saskatchewan, Premier Brad Wall. Wyant lost the leadership election to Scott Moe. When Moe was sworn in as premier, he appointed Wyant as Deputy Premier and Minister of Education.
