Wuling Hongguang S1
The Wuling Hongguang S1 () is a compact MPV manufactured by SAIC-GM-Wuling. Overview China The Hongguang S1 was launched in China on 20 August 2015 with three trim levels (Standard, Comfort and Luxury) and positioned above the Hongguang and Hongguang S MPVs. On 20 April 2016, a new trim level with different exterior design was launched as Hongguang S1 Exclusive and based on the Luxury trim. Due to low sales, Hongguang S1 was discontinued around early 2017 and it was replaced by Hongguang S3. Indonesia In Indonesia, the Hongguang S1 is sold by SGMW Indonesia as the Wuling Confero, where it was launched to the public on 2 August 2017. Two variants were launched; Confero that based on the pre-2016 Chinese market Hongguang S1 and Confero S that based on the Hongguang S1 Exclusive. SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile ( zh, 上汽通用五菱汽车股份有限公司, abbreviated as SGMW) is a joint venture between SAIC Motor, General Motors, and Liuzhou Wuling Motors Co Ltd. Based in Liuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, in southwestern China, it makes commercial and consumer vehicles sold in China under the Wuling and Baojun marques, respectively. A major mass-volume producer in the Chinese interior, in 2011 SGMW sold 1,286,000 vehicles in China, 1,445,000 in 2012, and aims to sell 2 million cars annually. Compact MPV (an abbreviation for Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle) is a vehicle size class for the middle size of MPVs. The Compact MPV size class sits between the mini MPV and large MPV (minivan) size classes. Compact MPVs remain predominantly a European phenomenon, although they are also built and sold in many Latin American and Asian markets.
