Wu Bin (Wushu Coach)
Wu Bin (; born 1937) is a chinese martial artist and wushu coach who has produced more wushu champions than any other coach in China. Among his students are Jet Li, Li Jinheng, Cao Yue, Zhang Guifeng, Zhang Hongmei, Hao Zhihua, Huang Qiuyan, Wang Ying, Sun Qibo, Tang Laiwei, Kenny Perez (his first American wushu student and representative), and Wang Fang. Wu began his career after graduating from the Beijing Physical Culture University Wushu Department in 1963 by becoming a coach of the famous Beijing Wushu Team. From 1986 to 1992, Wu Bin also held a position as Chairman of the Technical Department of the Chinese Wushu Research Institute. Wushu (sport)
''Wushu'' (), or ''Kung fu'', is a hard and soft and complete martial art, as well as a full-contact combat sport. It has a long history in reference to Chinese martial arts. It was developed in 1949 in an effort to standardize the practice of traditional Chinese martial arts, yet attempts to structure the various decentralized martial arts traditions date back earlier, when the Central Guoshu Institute was established at Nanking in 1928. Hao Zhihua (), also known as Patti Li, is a Chinese Wushu (sport), wushu practitioner. She started her training at the age of nine at the Beijing Sports Academy under the instruction of Wu Bin (wushu coach), Wu Bin, director of the Beijing Institute for Wushu Research and a pioneer of modern wushu in China. For fifteen years she competed in China as a member of the world-renowned Beijing Wushu Team, winning the title of National All-Around Champion three years in a row. The Beijing Wushu Team ( ) is a world-renowned wushu team from Beijing, China. The team has produced many famous international stars such as Jet Li, Donnie Yen, Hao Zhihua, Huang Qiuyan, Zhang Hongmei and Wu Jing. The International Wushu Federation (IWUF) is an international sport organization and is the governing body for wushu in all its forms worldwide. Dan (rank)
The ranking system is used by many Japanese, Okinawan, Korean, and other martial art organizations to indicate the level of a person's ability within a given system. Used as a ranking system to quantify skill level in a specific domain, it was originally used at a Go school during the Edo period. It is now also used in most modern Japanese fine and martial arts.
