Wrestling is an Universiade optional sport since the 1973 in Moscow, USSR. After this, wrestling was optional sport at 1977, 1981, 2005 and 2013 editions. Currently, two styles are competed: freestyle and Greco-Roman. At the 2013 edition, belt wrestling was also part of the program. Wrestling is a series of combat sports involving grappling-type techniques such as clinch fighting, throws and takedowns, joint locks, pins and other grappling holds. Wrestling techniques have been incorporated into martial arts, combat sports and military systems. The sport can either be genuinely competitive or sportive entertainment (see professional wrestling).
