Worldfocus
''Worldfocus'' was an American newscast focused on international news and reporting. The newscast was originally anchored by Martin Savidge and later hosted by Daljit Dhaliwal. It was produced by WNET New York and distributed to U.S. public television stations by American Public Television. It ceased broadcasting on April 2, 2010. History and operation The program launched on October 6, 2008, in many cases replacing ''BBC World News'', which continued to air on some public TV stations; following the cancelation of ''Worldfocus'', many of the stations that had dropped the BBC program have since resumed carrying it. ''Worldfocus'' was not part of the national PBS schedule and did not air on all U.S. public TV stations. Martin Savidge
Martin "The Savage" Savidge (born May 27, 1958) is a Canadian-American television news correspondent. Savidge worked for NBC News and was a special correspondent and former anchor for public television's '' Worldfocus'' nightly news program in the role of a special correspondent. He previously worked for WJW, Cleveland, where he also worked with current NBC correspondent Kelly O'Donnell. Savidge began anchoring ''CNN Newsroom'' in January 2011. Biography Savidge was born in Lachine, Quebec, Canada to British parents, who soon after moved to the United States. He holds dual citizenship for both Canada and the United States. Daljit Dhaliwal (born 8 September 1962) is a British newsreader and television presenter. Dhaliwal is a former news presenter for the Al-Jazeera English news service that broadcast from Washington DC. Previously, she was the anchor chair of '' Worldfocus'' on PBS, which aired its last broadcast on 2 April 2010. She has been best known for presenting the critically acclaimed program ''Foreign Exchange'' also on PBS and the United Nations Television produced 21st Century documentary seen on CUNY cable television. Dhaliwal also does news segments for ABC News Now. From January 2008 to October 2009, she was sole anchor of ''Foreign Exchange''. She later did one episode of ''Global Watch'' in April 2008. Neal B. Shapiro (born March 9, 1958) is the President and CEO of WNET. He worked previously as the President of NBC News and the executive producer for ''Dateline NBC''. Prior to this Shapiro spent 13 years as a news producer at ABC News. Early life Shapiro was born to a practicing Jewish family and raised in Delmar, New York.
