World Ōmori Championship
The is a professional wrestling championship in the Japanese promotion DDT Pro-Wrestling. The title was established in 2006 and named after the festival held annually in Ōmori. There have been a total of eight reigns between eight different champions. The current champion is Soma Takao who is in his first reign. Title history In 2008, the title became inactive after Daichi Kakimoto retired. It was reactivated in 2009 in order for Danshoku Dino and Masa Takanashi to have a nonuple winner takes all match at the Ryōgoku Peter Pan event. From 2010 to 2018, the title has been defended each October at the "UTAN Festa" event held outside the Ōmori station in Tokyo. It then remained inactive until November 2022 when DDT returned to UTAN Festa and Soma Takao defeated Chikara for the title. Soma Takao
is a Japanese professional wrestler, currently working for the Japanese professional wrestling promotion DDT Pro-Wrestling (DDT). Takao has taken part in every edition of DDT's flagship annual event, Peter Pan, where he had a series of 13 straight victories. is a Japanese professional wrestler, better known by his ring name and is currently working for the Japanese professional wrestling promotion DDT Pro-Wrestling (DDT). Professional Wrestling In Japan
Professional wrestling in Japan has existed for many years. The first Japanese to involve himself in catch wrestling, the basis of traditional professional wrestling, was former sumo wrestler Sorakichi Matsuda. There were subsequent attempts before and after World War II to popularize the sport in Japan, but these generally failed until the advent of its first big star, Rikidōzan, in 1951, who became known as the "father" of the sport. Makoto Oishi
is a Japanese professional wrestler currently working for Dramatic Dream Team (DDT). Oishi started his career in Kaientai Dojo, where he became a Strongest-K Tag Team, Independent World Junior Heavyweight and UWA World Middleweight Champion, at one time holding all three titles simultaneously. Kyohei Mikami
(born December 28, 1973), known by his stage name Mikami, is a Japanese professional wrestler. He is best known for his work for Dramatic Dream Team both as a singles wrestler and with Thanomsak Toba in a tag team called Suicide Boyz.
