World Chess Championship 2024
The World Chess Championship 2024 will be a chess match to determine the World Chess Champion. It will be played between the defending champion, Ding Liren of China, and the winner of the Candidates Tournament 2024. It will be a best of 14 games, plus tiebreaks. Candidates Tournament The challenger will qualify by winning the Candidates Tournament 2024, which will be an eight-player double round-robin tournament. It will take place from 2 April to 25 April 2024 in Toronto, Canada. Firouzja is the youngest ever 2800- rated player, beating the previous record set by Magnus Carlsen by more than five months. Dommaraju Gukesh (born 29 May 2006), better known as Gukesh D, is an Indian chess grandmaster. A chess prodigy, he is the third-youngest person in history to qualify for the title of Grandmaster, which FIDE awarded him in March 2019. On 16 October 2022, at the age of 16, he became the youngest player ever to defeat current world champion Magnus Carlsen, when he beat Carlsen in a game at the Aimchess Rapid Tournament. 2023 FIDE Circuit
The 2023 FIDE Circuit is a system comprising the top chess tournaments in 2023, which serves as a qualification path for the Candidates Tournament 2024. Players receive points based on their performance and the strength of the tournament. A player's final Circuit score is the sum of their five best results of the year. The winner of the Circuit qualifies for the Candidates Tournament 2024 in Toronto, Canada, the winner of which qualifies for the World Chess Championship 2024. The FIDE Grand Swiss Tournament 2023 is an upcoming chess tournament that forms part of the qualification cycle for the World Chess Championship 2024. It will be an 11-round Swiss-system tournament with 114 players competing from 25 October to 5 November 2023 in the Isle of Man. The winner and runner-up of the tournament will earn the right to the play in the Candidates Tournament 2024. The event will be held in parallel with the FIDE Women's Grand Swiss Tournament 2023.
