Workers' Revolutionary Party (Peru)
The Workers' Revolutionary Party ( es, Partido Revolucionario de los Trabajadores) is a Trotskyist political party in Peru founded in 1978 by a fraction of PST, FIR(IV) and FIR(Combate). Its founding leaders included Hugo Blanco, Hipólito Enríquez, Raúl Castro Vera and Nicolás Lucar. It participated in the general elections 1980 and the municipal elections 1980 and 1983. PRT is currently led by Raúl Castro Vera. Trotskyist
Trotskyism is the political ideology and branch of Marxism developed by Ukrainian-Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky and some other members of the Left Opposition and Fourth International. Trotsky self-identified as an orthodox Marxist, a revolutionary Marxist, and Bolshevik–Leninist, a follower of Marx, Engels, and 3L: Vladimir Lenin, Karl Liebknecht, and Rosa Luxemburg. He supported founding a vanguard party of the proletariat, proletarian internationalism, and a dictatorship of the proletariat (as opposed to the " dictatorship of the bourgeoisie", which Marxists argue defines capitalism) based on working-class self-emancipation and mass democracy. Hugo Blanco (politician)
Hugo Blanco Galdós (15 November 1934 – 25 June 2023) was a Peruvian political figure, leader of the Confederación Campesina del Perú (CCP, Campesino Confederation of Peru), leader of Trotsky's Fourth International and a writer. Early life When Blanco was a child he heard that a landowner applied a redhot iron on an indigenous man.https://www.sfu.ca/las/news/documents/Biography_HugoBlanco.pdf When he was 10 he met an indigenous leader who told him the story of his struggles. He involved himself in school strikes against Manuel A. Odría, which the students won. At age 20 he traveled to Buenos Aires and began studying in the university. Reunified Fourth International
The Fourth International (FI), founded in 1938, is a Trotskyist international. In 1963, following a ten-year schism, the majorities of the two public factions of the Fourth International, the International Secretariat and the International Committee, reunited, electing a United Secretariat of the Fourth International. In 2003, the United Secretariat was replaced by an Executive Bureau and an International Committee, although some other Trotskyists still refer to the organisation as the USFI or USec.
