Wordplay (British Game Show)
''Wordplay'' is a game show presented by Jenny Powell and sometimes Jenni Falconer. It aired live television, live weekdays from 23 March to 31 July 2009 on Channel 5 (UK), Channel 5 and was axed after only one series. Format Four contestants competed through six rounds of word puzzles. The lowest scorer at the end of every second round was eliminated. If one of these rounds ended with a tie for low score, a tiebreaker puzzle was played; a correct answer allowed the contestant to advance, while a miss eliminated them. Scores were reset to zero after each elimination. Main game During each of the first five rounds, the contestants were given a category that hinted at the solution of the puzzle and had to buzz-in before responding. An incorrect answer froze the contestant out of the next puzzle. Jenny Powell
Jenny Powell (born 8 April 1968) is an English television and radio presenter. After appearing on '' No Limits'', she went on to present series such as ''Wheel of Fortune'', '' UP2U'', ''Gimme 5'', '' Live Talk'', ''Wordplay'' and '' Daybreak''. Early life Jenny Powell was born on 8 April 1968 in Ilford, England. Powell's parents are of Cape Coloured descent from South Africa. She attended Woodford County High School for Girls in Woodford Green and the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London. Career Powell began her career in 1985 as the ad voiceover for the 6th and 7th volumes of the ''Now That's What I Call Music!'' series. In 1986, she went on to present the BBC2 music series '' No Limits'' and then moved to Saturday morning television for children, first co-presenting '' UP2U'' for BBC1 during the summers of 1988 and 1989, then ''Gimme 5'', on ITV. Jenni Falconer
Jenni Falconer (born 12 February 1976) is a Scottish radio and television presenter. She appears on the ITV daytime show '' This Morning'' as a regular travel reporter and was a regular presenter of the National Lottery Draws on BBC One. She was a radio presenter on Heart FM, presenting Heart Early Breakfast on weekdays from 4am to 6:30am and Sunday Breakfast from 6am to 9am. She stepped down from Sunday Breakfast in June 2019 after Early Weekday Breakfast was extended from 4-6am to 4–6.30am (an extra 30 minutes) due to changes of scheduling and presenting at Heart Breakfast. Live television is a television production broadcast in real-time, as events happen, in the present. In a secondary meaning, it may refer to streaming television over the Internet when content or programming is played continuously (not on demand). Hangman is a guessing game for two or more players. One player thinks of a word, phrase or sentence and the other(s) tries to guess it by suggesting letters within a certain number of guesses. Originally a Paper-and-pencil game, there are now electronic versions. ''BrainTeaser'' was a British game show based on the original Dutch format of ''Puzzeltijd'' (English: Puzzle Time). The show was broadcast live, with phone-in viewer puzzles being announced and played during the show in addition to the studio game. During its run from 5 August 2002 to 7 March 2007, it aired on Channel 5 Mondays to Fridays, usually for an hour around lunchtime, with Alex Lovell as the main presenter. Until the end of 2005, Lovell rotated presenting duties on a weekly basis with Craig Stevens, Rachel Pierman and Jonny Gould, at different times in the show's history.
