WizardWorks
WizardWorks Group, Inc. was an American video game developer and publisher based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The company was founded in 1980 and, in 1993, WizardWorks opened the CompuWorks and MacSoft divisions. In 1996, WizardWorks was acquired by GT Interactive to become part of their GT Value Products umbrella, which was later abandoned. Through acquisitions, GT Interactive became Atari. On March 29, 2004, Atari, Inc. closed down all operations of WizardWorks, and folded outstanding projects into their publishing branch in Beverly, Massachusetts. ''Deer Hunter'' is a series of hunting simulation video games. Originally available for Windows platform published by WizardWorks, it was also published on Mac, and later on Game Boy Color, PlayStation 2, and mobile phones.The first Deer Hunter game was an early success in the casual game market. The original game was released in November 1997. In 2003, Southlogic Studios was commissioned by WizardWorks to develop '' Trophy Hunter 2003;'' and because of Trophy Hunter's success, they took over the development of the Deer Hunter franchise, with ''Deer Hunter 2004'' and ''Deer Hunter 2005'', distributed by Atari. ''Carnivores'' is a 1998 first-person shooter video game developed by Action Forms and published by WizardWorks for Microsoft Windows. It is the first video game in the ''Carnivores'' series of hunting games. Storyline ''Carnivores'' is set in the year 2190. During an exploration mission in unknown space, a science vessel known as FMM UV stumbled upon a planet with a climate similar to that of Earth, making it suitable for life. The new planet was code-named FMM UV-32. During the initial scouting expedition, the planet was declared inhospitable for colonization due to its unstable terrain and an unexpected abundant population of dinosaurs and other prehistoric reptiles. News articles about FMM UV-32 led an Earth corporation to purchase the rights to the planet and to create DinoHunt Corporation, which allowed customers to hunt the planet's dinosaurs. ''Carnivores 2'' is a first-person shooter video game developed by Action Forms and published by WizardWorks in North America on October 21, 1999. It is the sequel to the 1998 video game ''Carnivores'' and is the second in the ''Carnivores'' series. The source code became available on Assembla in 2013. Gameplay The DinoHunt Corporation continues to allow people to hunt dinosaurs on the planet FMM UV-32. After further exploration of the dinosaur planet, more islands have been opened to a growing number of customers. Gameplay is similar to the original ''Carnivores'', with some changes. At the start of the game, the player must register a hunter or continue with a saved hunter. ''Carnivores: Ice Age'' is a first-person shooter video game developed by Action Forms and published by WizardWorks for Microsoft Windows. It is the third game in the ''Carnivores'' series. MacSoft
MacSoft was an American video game developer and publisher founded in 1993 by Peter Tamte as subsidiary of WizardWorks, specializing in the production of video game ports from Microsoft Windows to Macintosh operating systems, as well as productivity software. In 1996, WizardWorks was acquired by GT Interactive (later renamed Infogrames, Inc.), with WizardWorks and MacSoft split into different operationals. On January 30, 2003, MacSoft was acquired by Destineer, and founder Peter Tamte again became the company's director. ''Beach Head 2000'' is a first-person shooter game developed by Digital Fusion. It was originally released by WizardWorks for Microsoft Windows and MacSoft for Mac OS as a "value-priced" release. A loose remake of the 1983 computer game '' Beach Head'', it shared a similar premise, as players defend a beach against attack by utilizing a variety of weapons. ''Claw'' is a 2D side-scroller platform video game published by Monolith Productions in 1997 about an anthropomorphic pirate cat who sets on a quest to find an ancient amulet while fighting enemies and solving puzzles.
