Wit FM
Wit FM is a French local radio station, based in Bègles near Bordeaux, created in 1988 and owned by Sud Radio Groupe. History In June 1988, Wit FM was created in Bordeaux, by Jean-Louis Marin, former journalist of RMC and a member of the Sud Radio team. Wit FM took over the defunct frequencies of the Parisian radio station ''Hit FM'', they have chosen a similar name to that of the Hit FM station in order to keep its predecessor's listeners. Sometime later, the station was acquired by Claude Bez, president of the sports club Girondins de Bordeaux. In 1989, Wit FM is sold for 75% to Sud Radio. Radio Stations In France
Compared to other European nations, the French are not avid newspaper readers, citing only 164 adults out of every 1000 as newspaper readers. The French press was healthiest in the aftermath of World War II. A year after the end of the war, 28 papers had a combined circulation of about 7 million. However, seven years later that figure had been nearly halved. This decline was principally due to the greater popularity of the broadcast media and the subsequent diversion of advertising revenues. Since 2000 newly produced free papers have further weakened the established press. Still, 80 daily papers remain, and there are a wide range of weeklies, many of which now feature internet sites. Regional papers have remained relatively unaffected by the decline, with provincial newspapers commanding a higher degree of reader loyalty. Girondins De Bordeaux
Football Club des Girondins de Bordeaux (), commonly referred to as Girondins de Bordeaux ( oc, Girondins de Bordèu) or simply Bordeaux, is a French professional football club based in the city of Bordeaux in Gironde, Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The team currently plays in Ligue 2, the second tier of French football, and is coached by David Guion. Claude Bez
Claude Bez (November 4, 1940 – January 26, 1999), former Bordeaux soccer team chairman, was an iconic personality in French football culture of the 1980s. Biography Claude Bez was born in Saint-Augustin, Bordeaux. His mother died when he was young. His father, Gaston, ran a small accounting firm that was growing quickly with branches in French overseas departments. In his youth he played football for Coqs Rouges. On April 4, 1959, he won the U20 Gironde Cup against Girondins de Bordeaux. He played full-back, was thin and sported a mustache. He left Coqs Rouges for Villenave-d'Ornon, a neighborhood team, and soon devoted himself to a career in accounting. He chaired Bordeaux for 12 years, leading the club to three French championship titles (1984, 1985 and 1987), two French Cups against Marseille in 1986 (2-1 after extra time) and in 1987 (2-0), and an uninterrupted run of participation in the European Cup from 1982 to 1989. Sud Radio
Sud Radio is a French privately owned radio station, founded in 1958. Until 2017, it was headquartered in Labège, Haute-Garonne near Toulouse, before it moved to Courbevoie, Hauts-de-Seine. Radio Broadcasting
Radio broadcasting is transmission of audio (sound), sometimes with related metadata, by radio waves to radio receivers belonging to a public audience. In terrestrial radio broadcasting the radio waves are broadcast by a land-based radio station, while in satellite radio the radio waves are broadcast by a satellite in Earth orbit.
