Wisconsin Highway 140
State Trunk Highway 140 (often called Highway 140, STH-140 or WIS 140) is an state highway in Rock County, Wisconsin, United States, that runs in north–south from the Illinois border, near Bergen, through Clinton to east of Emerald Grove. The highway was designated in 1923/1924 and paved in the early 1930s. Route description The highway is maintained by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). The highway is not part of the National Highway System; a system of highways important to the nation’s economy, defense, and mobility. The highway begins at the Wisconsin–Illinois state line near Bergen as a continuation of Illinois Route 76 (IL 76), and runs north from it. It meets with brief pockets of forested parkland and runs through farmland, passing through intersections with WIS 67 and County Trunk Highway P (CTH-P). State Trunk Highway 67 (often called Highway 67, STH-67 or WIS 67) is a Wisconsin state highway running from the Wisconsin–Illinois state line east of Beloit north to U.S. Highway 151 (US 151) east of Chilton. With the inclusion of the new Oconomowoc bypass, WIS 67 is approximately in length. WIS 67 meanders through much of Southeastern Wisconsin, passing through both the northern and southern units of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. It ends just south of the Killsnake State Wildlife Area in Manitowoc County. State Trunk Highway 11 (often called Highway 11, STH-11 or WIS 11) is a state highway running east–west across southern Wisconsin. The highway connects Dubuque, Iowa with the cities of Janesville, Racine and Elkhorn. Most of the route is two-lane road with the exception of an expressway bypass of Monroe, a multilane bypass of Janesville, a section where it is concurrent with I-39 and I-90, a combined freeway/divided highway bypass of Burlington to the south, where it is partially concurrent with WI 36 and WI 83, and urban multilane highway in the greater Racine area. Bradford is a town in Rock County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,013 at the 2020 census. The unincorporated communities of Avalon and Emerald Grove are located within the town. Interstate 43 (I-43) is a Interstate Highway located entirely within the US state of Wisconsin, connecting I-39/ I-90 in Beloit with Milwaukee and I-41, U.S. Highway 41 (US 41) and US 141 in Green Bay. State Trunk Highway 32 (WIS 32) runs concurrently with I-43 in two sections and I-94, I-894, US 10, US 41, US 45, and WIS 57 overlap I-43 once each. There are no auxiliary or business routes connected to I-43, though an alternate route to direct traffic during road closures is signed along local and state highways from Milwaukee County north into Brown County. Diamond Interchange
A diamond interchange is a common type of road junction, used where a controlled-access highway crosses a minor road. Design The freeway itself is grade-separated from the minor road, one crossing the other over a bridge. Approaching the interchange from either direction, an off-ramp diverges only slightly from the freeway and runs directly across the minor road, becoming an on-ramp that returns to the freeway in similar fashion. The two places where the ramps meet the road are treated as conventional intersections.
