Wisconsin Assembly, District 45
The 45th Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in southern Wisconsin, the district comprises most of eastern and central Green County and western and southwestern Rock County. It includes the most of the city of Beloit, as well as the cities of Evansville and Brodhead and the villages of Albany, Monticello, and Orfordville. It also contains Beloit College. Judy Robson
Judith Biros Robson (born November 21, 1939) is a retired American nurse, nursing instructor, and Democratic politician. She served 12 years in the Wisconsin State Senate and 12 years in the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing Rock County. She was the first female Democratic State Senate majority leader in Wisconsin history. Biography Robson was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and now lives in Beloit, Wisconsin. She received a B.S.N. degree from St. John's College in Cleveland, and a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1976. She is a registered nurse. Before being elected to public office, Robson worked as a nurse and as an instructor, primarily at Blackhawk Technical College. Timothy Weeden (born November 13, 1951) is a Wisconsin politician, legislator, and realtor. Born in Beloit, Wisconsin, Weeden graduated from Beloit Memorial High School. He received a bachelor's degree in political science from Wheaton College in 1973 and then a masters in business administration from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater. From 1982 to 1983, Weeden served on the Beloit Board of Education. Sparta, Wisconsin
Sparta is a city in and the county seat of Monroe County, Wisconsin, United States, along the La Crosse River. The population was 10,025 at the 2020 census. History Sparta is located on former Ho-Chunk territory acquired by the United States in 1837. White settlement began after the government surveyed the land in 1849 and created a crossroads by building early state roads from Prairie du Chien to Hudson in 1849 and from Portage to La Crosse in 1851. The first recorded settlers were brothers Frank and William Petit, who opened a tavern near the crossroads in 1851. Their mother, recorded only as Mrs. Petit, named the settlement after the ancient Greek city-state of Sparta. A post office has been in operation at Sparta since 1852. In 1854, the Wisconsin Legislature named Sparta the county seat for the newly organized Monroe County. Gary Johnson (Wisconsin Politician)
Gary K. Johnson (September 14, 1939August 8, 2008) was an American educator and Democratic politician. He served 14 years in the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing southern Rock County, and was majority leader from 1980 until 1985. After leaving the Assembly, he worked for a time as Assistant Superintendent in the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Early life and career Born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, he moved to Beloit, Wisconsin, with his family as a child. He graduated from Beloit Memorial High School and went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Beloit College in 1963. Afterwards, he went back to Beloit Memorial High School as a social studies teacher.
