Windsor Link Railway
The Windsor Link Railway was a proposed new railway in Windsor, Berkshire, connecting the Great Western and South Western franchise areas and linking both to London Heathrow Airport. George Bathurst originally proposed the plan in 2009 as part of David Cameron's "Big Society" initiative with the aim of improving rail services to Windsor which is served by two railway stations and appears as a very narrow gap in the sub-region. Originally the cost estimate was £125 million at the most which included contingency. In 2013, after 4 years, the project was promoted by Windsor Link Railway Limited (WLR), led by businessman George Bathurst. The promoter's aim is for the railway to be entirely privately initiated and financed. The enhanced plan's cost was then estimated at £200 million. Windsor Royal Railway Station
Windsor Royal was a proposed railway station in Windsor and part of the Windsor Link Railway, which would have seen Windsor & Eton Riverside and Windsor & Eton Central, replaced by one station which would link to Heathrow Terminal 5. Plans In June 2013, the company announced that Network Rail had given the green light to go ahead to the next phase of development and seek private investment. On 11 December 2013, the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead received 1,423 signatures in support of the project. This resulted in the project being discussed at full council on 25 February 2014. Aylesbury railway station is a railway station in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, England, on the London–Aylesbury line from via Amersham. It is from Aylesbury to Marylebone. High Wycombe Railway Station
High Wycombe railway station is a railway station in the town of High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England. The station is on the Chiltern Main Line between and stations. It is served by Chiltern Railways. History The original terminus station was built in 1854 after an original design by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The station had one platform and a train shed that covered two broad gauge tracks. On one side of the train shed was a single road engine shed and on the platform side were a booking office and waiting rooms (on the Birdcage Walk side). The walls of the train shed, an engine shed and offices were constructed from brick and knapped flint with slate roofs. Colnbrook
Colnbrook is a village in the Slough district in Berkshire, England. It lies within the historic boundaries of Buckinghamshire, and straddles two distributaries of the Colne, the Colne Brook and Wraysbury River. Heathrow Airtrack
Heathrow Airtrack was a proposed railway link in the United Kingdom which would link Heathrow Airport in west London to London Waterloo railway station in Central London. The line, as proposed by BAA, would run from across the suburbs of southwest London to Waterloo, with additional direct rail services from the airport to and Guildford. Windsor & Eton Riverside station is a station in Windsor, Berkshire, England. The station, close to the River Thames and Windsor Castle, is a Grade II listed building. It is down the line from and is the terminus of the Staines to Windsor Line, served by South Western Railway. The station is also in close proximity to Windsor's other station, , which is served by Great Western Railway trains from on the Windsor branch of the Great Western Main Line.
