Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board
The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board (WECDSB, known as English-language Separate District School Board of Education No. 37 prior to 1999) is the separate school board that oversees Catholic education in Windsor and the surrounding County of Essex, in Ontario, Canada. Its headquarters are in the Windsor Essex Catholic Education Centre in Windsor. It provides administration to a total of 44 schools which provide classes from kindergarten to grade 12, where Catholic teachings permeate all areas of the curriculum. The board was created in 1998 from the merger of the Windsor Separate School Board (WSSB) and the Essex County Separate School Board (ECSSB) as the anglophone and francophone separate school boards. Cardinal Carter Catholic High School, often shortened to Cardinal Carter, is an International Baccalaureate high school in Aurora, Ontario, Canada in the York Catholic District School Board. Cardinal Carter was established in 1989, commencing operation for grades eight and nine at ''Our Lady of the Annunciation'' elementary school. Holy Names High School (often abbreviated HNH), is a Catholic secondary school located in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. It belongs to the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board. It serves students from grades 9 to 12. History The school opened on September 12, 1985 in the former St. Hubert Elementary School. The school was named to remember the contributions of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. In September 1986 the school was moved to its current location, the former Centennial Secondary School. History Catholic Central was founded in 1985 / 1986 when the Windsor Catholic School Board voted to open a fourth Catholic high school in the city.
