Paned Window (architecture)
In architecture, a paned window is a window that is divided into panes of glass, usually rectangular pieces of glass that are joined to create the glazed element of the window. Window panes are often separated from other panes (or "lights") by lead strips, or glazing bars, moulded wooden strips known as muntins in the US. Paned windows originally existed because of the difficulty of making large flat sheets of glass using traditional glassblowing techniques, which typically did not produce flat sheets larger than 8 inches square. Modern glass manufacturing process such as float glass Float glass is a sheet of glass made by floating molten glass on a bed of molten metal, typically tin, although lead and other various low- melting-point alloys were used in the past. This method gives the sheet uniform thickness and very flat sur ... make window panes unnecessary, but paned windows are still used as an architectural feature for aesthetic reasons. Paned Window (computing)
A paned window is a windows (or build-ups) in a graphical user interface that has multiple parts, layers, or sections. Examples of this include a code browser in a typical integrated development environment; a file browser with multiple panels; or a web page that contains multiple frames. Simple console applications use an ''edit pane'' for accepting input and an ''output pane'' for displaying output. The term ''task pane'' is used by Microsoft to identify any area cordoned off from the main screen area of an application and used for a specific function, such as changing the displayed font in a word processor. Three-pane interface A Three-pane interface is a category of graphical user interface in which the screen or window is divided into three panes displaying information. This information typically falls into a hierarchal relationship of master-detail with an embedded inspector window. Microsoft's Outlook Express email client An email client, email reader or, more ...

Windowpane (song)
"Windowpane" is a song by British experimental band Coil, from their third studio album, ''Love's Secret Domain''. Background Written and produced by the band with lyrics by John Balance, it was released in 1990 by Threshold House on 12" vinyl and CD; in the US, the single was licensed by the indie record label Wax Trax! Records. The song's accompanying video was directed by Peter Christopherson. "Windowpane" appears here truncated, missing the backwards vocals as they appear on the end of the song's album version. The "Astral Paddington Mix" is purely instrumental. Regarded as a “proto-‘trip-hop’” track, the song refers in the title to LSD encapsulated in thin gelatin squares, with the lyrics referring to the subjective effects of an LSD trip ("See microscopic, see world view, see the future leaking through; see the person who once was you"). Release history Three versions of this single were pressed on 12" vinyl, a white label promo, a picture disc, and a standard edi ...

Damnation (album)
''Damnation'' is the seventh full-length studio album by Swedish progressive rock band Opeth. It was released on 22 April 2003, five months after ''Deliverance (Opeth album), Deliverance'', which was recorded at the same time. ''Damnation'' is the last Opeth album to date to be produced by Steven Wilson although he did mix two future albums, ''Heritage (Opeth album), Heritage'' and ''Pale Communion''. Mikael Åkerfeldt dedicated both albums to his grandmother, who died in a car accident during the time the albums were being recorded. The album was a radical departure from Opeth's typical death metal sound, and the first Opeth album to use all clean vocals, clean guitars, and prominent Mellotron, as well as being inspired by 1970s progressive rock, which typically features no heavy riffs or extended fast tempos. Despite the change in style from Opeth's previous albums, ''Damnation'' was critically acclaimed and boosted their popularity, leading to the release of ''Lamentations (Liv ...

Fenestrane
A fenestrane in organic chemistry is a type of chemical compound with a central quaternary carbon atom which serves as a common vertex for four fused carbocycles. They can be regarded as spiro compounds twice over. Because of their inherent strain and instability, fenestranes are of theoretical interest to chemists. The name—proposed in 1972 by Vlasios Georgian and Martin Saltzman—is derived from the Latin word for window, ''fenestra''. Georgian had intended that "fenestrane" solely referred to .4.4.4enestrane, whose skeletal structure looks like windows, and Kenneth B. Wiberg called that specific structure "windowpane". The term ''fenestrane'' has since become generalized to refer to the whole class of molecules that have various other ring-sizes. Georgian recommended ''rosettane'' for the class, based on the structural appearance as a rosette of flowers. Nomenclature and structure Structures within this class of chemicals can be named according to the number of atoms in ...

''Beccariophoenix fenestralis'' is a species of plant in the family Arecaceae. It was described as a species distinct from ''Beccariophoenix madagascariensis'' in 2014. Description ''Beccariophoenix fenestralis'' is a palm tree which grows about 10 meters tall. It differs from ''B. madagascariensis'' when a seedling, in having wide, mostly unsplit leaves, whereas the ''B. madagascariensis'' has fully split, very stiff upright leaves when young. Range and habitat ''Beccariophoenix fenestralis'' is known from a single location in Brickaville, Atsinanana region, growing in humid lowland forest at 140 meters elevation. Conservation and threats There is only one known population of the species, with an area of occupancy Area is the quantity that expresses the extent of a region on the plane or on a curved surface. Windowpane Oyster
The windowpane oyster (''Placuna placenta'') is a bivalve marine mollusk in the family of Placunidae. They are edible, but valued more for their shells (and the rather small pearls). The shells have been used for thousands of years as a glass substitute because of their durability and translucence. More recently, they have been used in the manufacture of decorative items such as chandeliers and lampshades; in this use, the shell is known as capiz shell (''kapis'')."Fisheries and aquaculture of window-pane shells"
Malacological Society of London. Retrieved on 2011-10-23.
Capiz shells are also used as raw materials for glue, chalk and varnish. Distribution extends from the shallows of the
