Capdown
Capdown is an English punk rock band from Milton Keynes. Originally known as Soap, their songs have political themes as alluded to by their name, which is short for Capitalist Downfall. Mixing ska, punk, hardcore, dub, drum and bass, and reggae, Capdown built a reputation around their independent releases and numerous tours. Career In May 2000, the Household Name Records released Capdown's debut album '' Civil Disobedients''. The album featured hardcore, but also mixed in ska and dub. According to Drowned in Sound the album kick started an underground punk scene. The album went on to be listed at 76 in the NME's top one hundred list for the decade. In the same year Capdown played nearly 250 gigs. In early 2001, Capdown toured with a number of established American bands, including Less Than Jake and played the Deconstruction touring festival with Pennywise and Lagwagon. Fierce Panda Records
Fierce Panda Records is a London-based independent record label, with its first release in February 1994. It also produced a small number of releases that year by now famous artists such as Ash, The Bluetones, Baby Bird and Supergrass. Fierce Panda is also credited with releases by Acres of Lions, Air Traffic, Art Brut, The Blackout, Boy Kill Boy, Coldplay, Death Cab for Cutie, Desperate Journalist, Embrace, Goldheart Assembly, Kenickie, Seafood, Keane, Placebo, The Polyphonic Spree and Shitdisco. In the autumn of 1997, Fierce Panda formed the sub-label Rabid Badger Records to release more dance oriented music, and in spring 1998 the sub-label Livid Meerkat for post-rock music. Fierce Panda also had released compilation albums and EPs, whose titles are mainly puns, often in-jokes. Larry Hibbitt
Larry Hibbitt is a record producer from Wandsworth, London. He is guitarist/vocalist in the post-hardcore band Hundred Reasons. As a writer/producer he has worked with Nothing but Thieves, Marmozets, Sundara Karma, Saint Raymond, High Tyde, Pretty Vicious, Don Broco, Dinosaur Pile-Up, Sea Girls, Full colour, Valeras, Cortes, Geowulf, Norma Jean Martine, BLOXX and Sophie Jamieson. Hundred Reasons Formed in 1999 with Colin Doran (vocals), Andy Gilmour (bass), Paul Townsend (guitar/vocals) and Andy Bews (drums), Hundred Reasons have released 5 studio albums, '' Ideas Above Our Station'' (2002), ''Shatterproof Is Not A Challenge'' (2004), '' Kill Your Own'' (2006) and '' Quick the Word, Sharp the Action'' (2007); the latter two were produced by Hibbitt, plus the latest album '' Glorious Sunset'' (2023). Pound For The Sound
''Pound for the Sound'' is Capdown's second full-length studio album. Released in September 2001, it is the follow-up to the previous year's ''Civil Disobedients''. The songs are a mix of hardcore and the ska-core Ska punk (also spelled ska-punk) is a fusion genre that mixes ska music and punk rock music together. (sometimes spelled skacore) is a subgenre of ska punk that mixes ska with hardcore punk. Early ska punk mixed both 2 tone and ska with hard ... sound. The lyrics in the album show a positive attitude towards life and lyrical themes include overcoming tough situations and racism (the song "Judgement Days"). "Dub #2" is the only instrumental and almost all the tracks have sax playing from singer Jake. It was released on London-based indie label Household Name Records and hit 48 in the UK charts (the highest charting release on the label). Kerrang!
''Kerrang!'' is a British weekly magazine devoted to rock, punk and heavy metal music, currently published by Wasted Talent (the same company that owns electronic music publication ''Mixmag''). It was first published on 6 June 1981 as a one-off supplement in the ''Sounds'' newspaper. Named after the onomatopoeic word that derives from the sound made when playing a power chord on a distorted electric guitar, ''Kerrang!'' was initially devoted to the new wave of British heavy metal and the rise of hard rock acts. In the early 2000s, it became the best-selling British music weekly. History ''Kerrang!'' was founded in 1981. The editor of the weekly music magazine ''Sounds'', Alan Lewis, suggested that Geoff Barton edit a one-off special edition focusing on the new wave of British heavy metal phenomenon and on the rise of other hard rock acts.
