Middletown, Virginia
Middletown is a town in Frederick County, Virginia, United States, in the northern Shenandoah Valley. The population was 1,265 at the 2010 census, up from 1,015 at the 2000 census. History Middletown was chartered on May 4, 1796. Some of the first documentation of early Middletown dates back to the late 18th century and is attributed to Dr. Peter Senseney and his wife Magdelen, two German settlers who had migrated from Pennsylvania. The town was originally known as "Senseney Town", a piece of land within the 17th Century Fairfax Grant and gifted to the allies for siding with England during the civil war in the 1600s. Belle Grove Plantation, about a mile southwest of Middletown, was first settled in about 1750, and its historic Federal-style manor house was completed in 1797. Brucetown is an Unincorporated area, unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in northern Frederick County, Virginia, Frederick County, Virginia, United States. It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 United States census, 2020 census with a population of 274. Brucetown lies at the intersection of Brucetown and Sir John Roads. Lake Holiday is a artificial lake located northwest of Winchester in Frederick County, Virginia, United States. The lake flows into Isaacs Creek, an east-flowing tributary of Back Creek, which flows north through West Virginia to the Potomac River. The main creeks feeding the lake are Isaacs Creek and Yeiders Run/Miller Run. Residential development surrounds the lake and forms the Lake Holiday census-designated place (CDP), with a population at the 2010 census of 1,905.
