Wilson Memorial High School is a public school located in Fishersville, Virginia. The school is named after the 28th President of the United States, Thomas Woodrow Wilson, who was born in nearby Staunton, Virginia. WMHS, home of the Green Hornets, is located in the Woodrow Wilson Complex, which consists of the Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center, Augusta County Public Schools Board offices, Valley Vocational Technical Center, Shenandoah Valley Governor's School, Wilson Elementary School, and Wilson Middle School. History The school's first class began on 11 September 1947 after Augusta County acquired a portion of the land used by the United States Army's former Woodrow Wilson General Hospital during World War II. Fishersville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Augusta County, Virginia, United States. The population was 7,462 at the 2010 census, an increase of nearly fifty percent from the 4,998 reported in 2000. It is part of the Staunton– Waynesboro Micropolitan Statistical Area. Fishersville is also home to Barren Ridge Vineyards (on the Shenandoah Valley Wine Trail), winner of the 2009 Best in Show wine at the Virginia State Fair. ''The Daily Progress'' is the sole daily newspaper in the vicinity of Charlottesville, Virginia, United States. It has been published daily, since September 14, 1892. The paper was founded by James Hubert Lindsay and his brother Frank Lindsay. The ''Progress'' was initially published six days a week; the first Sunday edition was printed in September 1968. Augusta County
Augusta County is a county in the Shenandoah Valley on the western edge of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The second-largest county of Virginia by total area, it completely surrounds the independent cities of Staunton and Waynesboro. Waynesboro High School
Waynesboro High School is a public high school in Waynesboro, Virginia, United States. Construction on the school began in 1936, funded by a Public Works Administration grant.
