Wilseyville, California
Wilseyville is an unincorporated community in Calaveras County, California. It lies at an elevation of 2769 feet (844 m). Wilseyville's post office was established in 1947; it has the zip code 95257. Wilseyville was named after Lawrence A. Wilsey, an executive at the American Forest Products Company. Wilseyville is notorious for being the location of the cabin where serial killers Leonard Lake and Charles Ng killed and disposed of some of their victims. Their spree ended in June 1985, when Ng was spotted loading stolen merchandise into a car driven by Lake in South San Francisco. Ng fled, but Lake was arrested at the scene for illegally outfitting a .22 caliber pistol with a silencer. He swallowed a cyanide pill while in police custody and died four days later. Police found human remains and other evidence at the Wilseyville cabin and began a manhunt for Ng. Calaveras County (), officially the County of Calaveras, is a county in both the Gold Country and High Sierra regions of the U.S. state of California. American Forest Products Corporation (AFPC) was a Fortune 500 company initially producing wooden boxes and shipping materials but expanding into the timber, sawmill, and lumber industries. The company began in the 1920s and operated under the same leadership until it was sold to the Bendix Corporation in 1969. Leonard Lake
Leonard Thomas Lake (October 29, 1945June 6, 1985), also known as Leonard Hill and a variety of other aliases, was an American serial killer. During the mid-1980s, he and his accomplice, British Hong Kong-born Charles Ng, raped, tortured and murdered an estimated eleven to twenty-five victims at a remote cabin near Wilseyville, California, in the Sierra Nevada foothills, located 150 miles east of San Francisco. After his 1985 arrest on unrelated charges, Lake swallowed cyanide pills that he had sewn into his clothing and died four days later. Charles Chi-tat Ng (born Ng Chitat) ( zh, t=吳志達, j=ng4 zi3 daat6; born 24 December 1960) is a convicted Hong Kong-born serial killer who committed numerous crimes in the United States.
