Willie McLean (footballer, Born 1935)
Willie McLean (born 2 April 1935) is a Scottish former association footballer and manager. He managed two of the clubs he had played for, Queen of the South and Raith Rovers. Brothers Willie is the elder brother of Jim McLean and Tommy McLean, who also played and managed for senior Scottish clubs. Queen of the South McLean was part of the 1961/62 George Farm managed Queen of the South side that won promotion to the top division of Scottish football. As well as player/manager Farm, McLean was a teammate of Neil Martin, Jim Patterson and Iain McChesney. McLean returned to Dumfries in the 1970s, this time as manager. Tommy McLean
Thomas McLean Jr. (born 2 June 1947 in Larkhall) is a Scottish former professional football player and manager. McLean played for Kilmarnock, Rangers and Scotland as a midfielder. He managed Morton, Motherwell, Hearts, Raith Rovers and Dundee United. Early life McLean grew up in Ashgill, Lanarkshire, along with his elder brothers Jim and Willie, who would also become successful players and managers. Playing career A traditional tricky winger, McLean started his career at Kilmarnock, where at one point all three brothers were at the club together, Jim and Tommy as players and Willie as a coach. He was part of the Kilmarnock team which won the club's only league title, in 1964-65. He joined Rangers in 1971 for £65,000 and was involved in the clubs famous 1972 Cup Winners Cup triumph. Mike Jackson (born 25 August 1939) is a Scottish former professional association footballer and manager. Jackson played as an inside forward for Benburb, Celtic, St Johnstone, Third Lanark, Clyde, Queen of the South and Clydebank in Scotland and Drumcondra in Ireland. Jackson had two spells as the manager of the ''Doonhamers'', (1975–78) and (1986–87), the club in Dumfries where he played for the longest time during his career. Celtic Mike Jackson signed for Celtic at the start of season 1957-58 having previously played for Scottish Junior club Benburb. Jackson was at Celtic until the summer of 1963, having scored 23 goals in 57 league appearances. Jackson however did not establish himself as a first-team regular and departed Celtic Park during the 1962-63 season. Palmerston Park
Palmerston Park is a football stadium on Terregles Street in Dumfries, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It is the home ground of Scottish League One club Queen of the South, who have played there since 1919. South of Scotland League club Heston Rovers have shared Palmerston since 2013. The stadium has a capacity of of which 3,377 are seats. History Palmerston Park was first opened in 1919, when Queen of the South were formed, although football had been played at the site since the 1870s. The site of the ground was formerly a farm called Palmers Toun. This is on the Maxwelltown side of the River Nith in Dumfries. Jimmy McKinnell, Tom Wylie and Willie McCall were all sold to Blackburn Rovers around the same time by Queen of the South. Dumfries
Dumfries ( ; sco, Dumfries; from gd, Dùn Phris ) is a market town and former royal burgh within the Dumfries and Galloway council area of Scotland. It is located near the mouth of the River Nith into the Solway Firth about by road from the Anglo-Scottish border and just away from Cumbria by air.
