William Worthington (actor)
William Worthington (April 8, 1872 in Troy, New York – April 9, 1941 in Beverly Hills, California) was an American silent film actor and director. Career Worthington became interested in the performing arts when he began his career as an opera singer and stage actor. He entered films with a lead role in 1913, and one of his more notable films was Damon and Pythias in 1914. From 1917 to 1925, William concentrated on directing films and was the head of a film production firm called Multicolor, which was bought by Cinecolor in 1932. He was active in films up until his death in 1941. Roman Freulich (1898–1974) was a photographer in the United States known for his movie stills and glamour shots. He immigrated from Poland. In 1939 he directed the film '' The Broken Earth'' starring Clarence Muse. The California Digital Library has a collection of his papers. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. has a collection of photographs he took in Poland in 1938. Two books of his work have been published, ''Faces of Israel'' and ''Forty Years in Hollywood''. He also shot stills for various Hollywood films including ''Frankenstein'' and ''The Invisible Man ''The Invisible Man'' is a science fiction novel by H. G. Wells. ''Happiness Ahead'' is a lost 1928 silent film drama directed by William A. Seiter and starring Colleen Moore and then husband and wife Edmund Lowe and Lilyan Tashman. It was produced by First National before it acquired by Warner Brothers. Moore was married to the producer John McCormick who frequently produced her films and they held rights to their films. Moore donated copies of her films to the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) and over the years the archive allowed the films to decay including ''Happiness Ahead''. This film is now lost save for footage from its trailer. The trailer was preserved by the Academy Film Archive in 2009.
