Bill Robertson (Australian Intelligence Officer)
William Thomas Robertson, (2 February 1917 – 2 January 2011) was the fourth Director-General of the Australian Secret Intelligence Service (ASIS), from 1968 until 1975, when was dismissed by Prime Minister Gough Whitlam; the reasons for Roberton's dismissal have remained a matter of controversy. During the Second World War, Robertson served as an Australian Army officer. He served as an infantry officer in North Africa, where he was wounded in action, and in Greece, before being appointed to staff roles in New Guinea. During 1944–45, he was attached to the British Army in North West Europe and held senior staff roles with two different British divisions. In 1952, Robertson was a founding member of the ASIS; its existence was to remain officially secret for two and a half decades. Bill Robertson (English Footballer)
William Harold Robertson (25 March 1923 – 15 March 2003) was an English former professional footballer who played in the Football League for Chelsea, Birmingham City and Stoke City. He played as a goalkeeper. Career Robertson was born in Crowthorne, Berkshire. In youth football he played as a centre forward, only switching to goalkeeping while in the Royal Air Force stationed at Lossiemouth during the Second World War. He signed for Chelsea in October 1945, and played 43 times in all competitions for the first team before moving to Birmingham City in December 1948. This move failed to improve matters, as Robertson found himself behind Gil Merrick in the pecking order and played just three times in a three-and-a-half years. He became new Stoke City manager Frank Taylor's first signing in the summer of 1952 as he saw him as a replacement for the ageing Dennis Herod. William "Digger" Roderick Robertson (6 October 1861 – 24 June 1938) was an Australian cricketer who played in one Test match in 1885. A native of the New South Wales town of Deniliquin, near the Victoria border, Digger Robertson was a right-handed batsman with a leg break bowling style. He made his first-class debut for Victoria against the English touring team in November 1884, taking 3 for 36 and 5 for 46. After the Australian team for the First Test in December refused to play in the Second Test, Robertson was one of eight Test debutants selected. However, he took no wickets, Australia lost, and along with four of the other debutants, he played no further Test cricket. After an altercation with his East Melbourne captain Harry Boyle, Robertson moved to San Francisco, where he played for three turn-of-the-century California Cricket Association league clubs. William Robertson (born 14 April 1993) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a midfielder for Darvel. He has previously played for Dundee United, Forfar Athletic, Alloa Athletic, Annan Athletic, Stirling Albion and East Kilbride.
