William Robert Dashiell
Brigadier General William Robert Dashiell (3 April 1863 – 16 March 1939) was a United States Army officer. He notably participated in the Philippine–American War and World War I. Early life and education Dashiell was born Mecklenburg County, Virginia on 3 April 1863. He graduated from the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, New York, in 1888, where he was a classmate of several future general officers, such as Peyton C. March, William M. Morrow, James W. McAndrew, Robert Lee Howze, Peter Charles Harris, Eli Alva Helmick, Henry Jervey Jr., William Voorhees Judson, John Louis Hayden, Edward Anderson, William H. United States Army Command And General Staff College
The United States Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC or, obsolete, USACGSC) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, is a graduate school for United States Army and sister service officers, interagency representatives, and international military officers. The college was established in 1881 by William Tecumseh Sherman as the School of Application for Infantry and Cavalry (later simply the Infantry and Cavalry School), a training school for infantry and cavalry officers. In 1907 it changed its title to the School of the Line. The curriculum expanded throughout World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War and continues to adapt to include lessons learned from current conflicts. Edward Anderson (May 31, 1864 – November 2, 1937) was an American brigadier general who served during World War I. Early life Anderson was born on May 31, 1864 in Virginia. John Louis Hayden (November 2, 1866 – February 22, 1936) was a United States Army officer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He served in several conflicts, including World War I. Biography Hayden was born in Chicago in 1866. His father was an American Civil War veteran who served in the 19th Illinois Volunteer Infantry. Hayden graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1888. Hayden was commissioned into the First Artillery, and he served at various locations, including at the Presidio of San Francisco, Fort Canby, Fort Columbus, and Fort Riley. From the latter location, Hayden was detached to serve in the Ghost Dance War in command of the Hotchkiss revolving cannon. Henry Jervey (June 5, 1866 – September 30, 1942) was an officer in the United States Army who served as director, Operations Division, General Staff, during World War I. In 1917, he wrote the book ''Warfare of the Future''. At the outbreak of World War I, Jervey was appointed brigadier general and served both as brigade and division commander.
