William M. Grant
William M. Grant (September 20, 1868 – January 9, 1931) was a real estate agent and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Batoche in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan from 1905 to 1908 as a Liberal. He was born in Princeton, Ontario, the son of Adam Grant and Lucinda Everette, and was educated there. In 1905, Grant married Catherine Henry. For a time, he worked at the jail in Regina, Saskatchewan. He also was a farming instructor at the Regina Industrial School. Batoche (former Electoral District)
Batoche was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. It was located in north central Saskatchewan, and was one of the original 25 electoral districts formed when the province was created in 1905. The electoral district was replaced before the next general election in 1908, and was redistributed into Duck Lake, Vonda, Hanley, Saskatoon County and Arm River. Prior to the creation of the province, the riding existed as an electoral district of the North-West Territories. A new district of the same name was created in 2002. The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly. All are single-member districts, though the cities of Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw were in the past represented through multi-member districts, with members elected through Block Voting. The Saskatchewan Liberal Party is a liberal political party in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The party was the provincial affiliate of the Liberal Party of Canada until 2009.
