William J. Webb
William J. Webb is a theologian, ordained Baptist minister and former professor of New Testament at Heritage Baptist College and Heritage Theological Seminary, Heritage Seminary, Ontario. He is currently adjunct professor at Tyndale Seminary in Toronto. He is notable for developing the "redemptive-movement" hermeneutic in his book ''Slaves, Women & Homosexuals: Exploring the Hermeneutics of Cultural Analysis'' (2001). This book argues for full role equality of men and women in the church and family while concluding that homosexuality is not a biblically sanctioned lifestyle. Craig Blomberg argues that Webb's "proposals concerning redemptive trajectories are among the more influential (and controversial) of new twenty-first century North American hermeneutical methods to emerge." Baptists form a major branch of Protestantism distinguished by baptizing professing Christian believers only (believer's baptism), and doing so by complete immersion. Heritage Baptist College And Heritage Theological Seminary
The Heritage College & Seminary is a Baptist theological institute in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. It is affiliated with the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada. History Central Baptist Seminary was itself formed out of a split in fundamentalist Baptist ranks when, in 1948, firebrand Baptist leader Thomas Todhunter Shields, then head of the Union of Regular Baptist Churches of Ontario and Quebec, dismissed Dean W. Gordon Brown from his seminary. Brown and 50 students then went on to begin a new seminary holding more moderate positions under the direction of President Jack Scott. Craig Blomberg
Craig L. Blomberg (born August 3, 1955) is an American New Testament scholar. He is currently a Distinguished Professor of the New Testament at Denver Seminary in Colorado where he has been since 1986. His area of academic expertise is the New Testament. This includes parables, miracles, historical Jesus, Luke-Acts, John, 1 Corinthians, James, the historical trustworthiness of Scripture, financial stewardship, gender roles, Latter Day Saint movement, hermeneutics, New Testament theology, and exegetical method. Blomberg has written and edited multiple books. He is married to Frances Fulling Blomberg and has two grown daughters, Elizabeth Little and Rachel Blomberg. The roles of women in Christianity have varied since its founding. Women have played important roles in Christianity especially in marriage and in formal ministry positions within certain Christian denominations, and parachurch organizations. In 2016, it has been estimated that the female share (aged 20 years and over) of the World's Christian Population is between 52 and 53 percent. The Pew Research Center studied the effects of gender on religiosity throughout the world, finding that Christian women in 53 countries are generally more religious than Christian men.
