William Henry Walenn
William Henry Walenn (7 January 1828 – 20 September 1896) was born in London and was trained as an engineer at the works of Messrs. Cottam, and received part of his education at University College, London, where he studied mathematics under Augustus De Morgan. He became a Fellow of the Chemical Society in 1866, and of the Institute of Chemistry soon after its establishment. He was also a member of the Physical Society of London. Biography Walenn's wife, Skene Charlotte (née Barth) was musically trained but did not perform professionally. The Intellectual Property Office of the United Kingdom (often referred to as the UK IPO) is, since 2 April 2007, the operating name of The Patent Office. It is the official government body responsible for intellectual property rights in the UK and is an executive agency of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). The history of electromagnetic theory begins with ancient measures to understand atmospheric electricity, in particular lightning. People then had little understanding of electricity, and were unable to explain the phenomena. Scientific understanding into the nature of electricity grew throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries through the work of researchers such as Coulomb, Ampère, Faraday and Maxwell. Arthur Silver (1853–1896) was a designer and founder of the Silver Studio. He was born in Reading in 1853. His grandfather had been in the cabinet-making business and his father, James Silver, was an upholsterer. Education In 1869 Arthur attended Reading School of Art, which had been founded by Sir Henry Cole with the aim of training designers in both art and industry. He won a prize for the elementary section of the Introduction in Art course. After leaving art school Arthur Silver was apprenticed to furniture designer Henry William Batley. Charles Roby Walenn (1867 – 30 May 1948) was an English singer and actor, best known for his performances in the comic baritone roles of the Gilbert and Sullivan operas with touring companies of the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company from 1887 to 1909 and later, off and on through the 1920s, with J. C. Williamson in Australia. Later in his career, he became known for London engagements in the title role of Rev.
